when I was little I'd watch the sunset during summer and every night my favorite part was when the sky turned purple and orange, so I based mine off that summer sunset I watched. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ycz-1BZNdmk/TdZDqy4OkpI/AAAAAAAAAgo/4SZnWM1FwRs/s1600/summer-sunset_1024x768.jpg

One thought that comes to mind when thinking of summer is starfish. I love all the different varieties there are and just all the different colors that they can come in. I found this picture and remember seeing this type of starfish once in an aquarium years ago, and I added in the Spiked Armor either as a thought towards the teeth in starfish, or some which actually do have their own set of spiked armor.

I decided to make a big poofy ice cream lion, because nothing is more summery than drowning yourself in various forms of ice to keep from burning. I picked a raspberry color scheme, with a couple of drips (and a slightly messy face, come on man this is ice cream, not a gazelle leg), and a cone colored body with some stripes to imitate that good old fashioned Waffle Cone Realnesstm. And what's ice cream without a big plastic pink tacky spoon to shovel it in your mouth? Or a cone. Spoon. Cone. Spoon. Cone.
BOTH.
I'd name him Veriberi because I can't steer away from slightly realistic names, and also because I can't steer away from bad puns when they present themselves.
Here's a picture of an ice cream for reference.

Um, it looks like you... definitely... missed a spot. Or two. With your sunscreen. *cough*
(This is my summer Lighira to commemorate the summer sunburns I, and many others, have had!)

Summer night, dark with stars, and a warm breeze still there so you can lay outside and enjoy watching the stars withoud freezing. Summer is also the time when you see the most shooting stars.

I thought of seafoam when creating this Lighira.
In my country we don't have a beautiful blue ocean, so this makes me think of going on a summer vacation.

I'm gonna go ahead and base mine on my childhood, and get all reminiscent on everyone.
When I was young, my family had a big, sprawling magnolia tree in the front yard. My bedroom window faced this tree, and although most bloomed only in spring, with our climate, our tree bloomed at the start of summer, and sometimes all the way into the heart of July. Recently, a blizzard killed our magnolia tree.
And now, for the tree as a Lighira.
She has wings, because the tree has passed on. I selected the patterned wings to carry over some of the patterned feel of the magnolia flowers, the dark horns are a stand in for the dark wood of the magnolia tree, and of course the patterning on her face is to reflect the patterning of the magnolia flowers. It's the closest I could get to their vertical striping.
All in all, she more represents the flower of the tree than the tree itself, because it was the flowers that would bloom and fall to mark the coming of summer in my childhood.
Her name would be Magnolia Seraph; the seraph referring to the rank of angels.

I based her off of the summer skies.
