The Frog Prince

Princess Hylla watched as a long line of people shambled forward, one by one, to place a flower on her father's grave. Tears cascaded down people's cheeks as they said their final farewell to the King of Crystal Mountain. Hylla stood there, unable to move, or speak, or even think. She hated herself. Her father's death was her fault.
She's made a deal to her older cousin to poison her uncle's drink. Her uncle has an abusive, alcoholic, and he lived in the castle. Her older cousin, Ben hated his father so much, but couldn't bring himself to murder. Instead he had threatened Hylla into doing the dirty work in exchange for beautiful diamonds. Hylla new her heart was evil for accepting, but she never liked her uncle either, and he had on one occasion slapped her. So she accepted Ben's payment, and sneaked into the kitchen that very day. Her cousin had given her the little pack to pour into the cup. Only to be dismayed as she realized her father's cup had been switched with her uncle's. She had screamed in revolt as her father lay twitching on the floor, foam dribbling out of his mouth. The same night, her uncle was murdered in his sleep. Ben had tricked her. Ben, who was 19, was next in line. Hylla was only 14, and to young. The day after her father's and uncle's death, Hylla feared for her life, for she thought Ben would kill her. She new to much. But he didn't. He threatened to do worse. Kill her mother, and her three-year old brother. Hylla vowed not to speak of Ben's deed. Anyway, if she did, she would also be to blame.
As the last person came up to the grave, she laid a lush red rose, then turned and stared at Hylla.
"I know what you have done." she whispered. Then she picked up the rose, pricked off a small thorn, then advanced on the princess. Hylla froze. She couldn't move, even though she tried. A witch she thought. The witch-lady took the thorn, then with a harsh dramatic movement stuck it through Hylla's thin black gown, and deep in the flesh. Hylla whimpered. Then she started to change. In a matter of seconds, she was a fox! The witch looked at her with pity in her eyes.
"I'm sorry dear. But my job is to make sure punishments are paid. Leave now, and only return when the king's death is forgotten. Then, you will find your true love. Now, you must scram."

Hylla is still waiting for her father to be forgotten. Then, and only then will she return and find love.

Hey I have a question? Are we allowed to use already known characters who...Aren't princes or princesses? Because I have an idea but don't want to break the rules.

The Frog Prince
(trying my hand at the frog prince again xD )

There was a princess of a tribal village, who was kind and was well-loved. One day, she awoke to cries of grief.

"What happened?" She asked, exiting her tent.
"Your father is ill..." replied one of her father's attendant.

Rushing to her father's tent, she saw her father lying still on his bed, face pale, breaking out in cold sweat. Surrounding him, people were crying in despair. She slowly approached his side and sat down beside him, taking his cold hand into hers.

"Princess, your father is dying." said the village shaman.
"What is causing this? Can you not treat this diesase?"
"It is not a disease that is killing him. Long before you were born, in the times of my grandfather, the village chief offended a powerful shaman, who placed a curse on this village. Every chief will die from this curse, and in the year of his death, a great plague will fall on the village."
"Is there no way to break this curse?"
"It is said that only true love can break the spell. A child of royal birth has to die for the curse to be broken. Alas, every chief for the past two generations only had one child. You cannot afford to die, we don't even know if that method is true."

The princess clutched her father's hand and wept.

That evening, she wandered through her village, watching her people. The parents went about their tasks, most of them visibly upset. The children sat around playing quietly, they too knew something was amiss. And in the year of his death, a great plague will fall on the village...

Tears welling up in her eyes, she turned and hid in her tent.

The next day, excited shouting woke the village at dawn, "Shaman! Shaman!"
People rushed to the tent where the excitement was. And the surprised mutterings grew louder.

"How can this be?" the village shaman exclaimed.
"Is this not something you've done?" the village chief replied. He was sitting in his bed now, the colour slowly returning to his cheeks.
"No. I could not have broken such a powerful curse..."
"The princess! Where is she?"

At that question, the village became a frenzy. People ran around, shouting her name, desperate in finding their beloved princess. When they finally searched the foot of a nearby cliff, they saw a creature unlike any they have ever seen before. The creature was long and tanned, it's wings as black as night. It's eyes were strikingly blue. Just like the princess' eyes were....

"My daughter?" the village chief whispered.

The creature nodded at the chief and seemingly smiled. It flapped its beautiful wings and took off to the skies.

"She'll watch over us now." the shaman knelt beside the grieving chief.

Could she ever turn back?

It is said that only true love can break the spell.

(I'm sorry this got so long. Totally never meant it to be. I just realized how long Goldilocks actually is. Please don't hate me. :c)

It was a bright and sunny day as a young girl made her way down a forest path. Her golden curls bounced as she walked and she hummed an idle tune as she walked along the well worn path in the forest. After a while, however, she started walking slower and slower, wincing every so often before she finally stopped, looking down at her feet. "Ooh these were not the right shoes to wear to go walking in the woods. What am I going to do?" The girl continued to whine softly to herself as she looked around the forest, knowing that she was just about half way to her destination and that turning around would be useless.

Right as she was about to sit down and have a frustrated cry she spotted what appeared to be a small house that nearly blended in with the surrounding forest off the side of the path. Her eyes shone. "I can definitely get some help there! Thank goodness, my feet are killing me." Pain momentarily forgotten, she bounced up and bumbled into the thicker woods off the path, stumbling occasionally and letting out a couple of swears at particularly prickly branches. "Stupid, stupid hair. Everything gets caught in it. It even had to inspire my name. Who names their kid after their hair? 'Oh Goldilocks, that's a great name, right honey?' Said no one except my mother." Goldi locks continued to grumble as she plucked briars and twigs out of her hair, stumbling over her still pained feet. She looked up at the house she had reached as she brushed some dirt off her dress. She didn't see any smoke to signal a fire inside, nor hear anyone about. Shrugging slightly to herself, she went up and began knocking on the door. Right as she was about to begin calling out, the door pushed open on its own. She hesitated a moment before stepping inside.

"Hello? Is anyone home here? I'm sorry but the door just opened by itself..." She trailed off as she looked around, still not seeing or hearing anyone. She thought it was odd and a little eerie, she began to turn to leave, maybe to sit for a while until she could walk again but her eyes were suddenly caught by three comfortable looking chairs in the room she was standing in. Goldilocks looked down at her feet again and then back to the chairs. Before she knew it her shoes were kicked off and she was halfway across the room, sitting in the nearest chair. It was large and wooden backed. She sighed at the feeling of her free feet, but couldn't get comfortable on the chair. "This is like a rock...Who would sit in this?" She grumbled to herself as she gingerly got up and went to examine the second chair. She pressed her hand to the fabric and was shocked as her hand was practically absorbed. She drew her hand back and met some resistance. "Woah! That's way too soft and squashy. It'd probably eat me alive." Her eyes roved over to the smallest chair. She inspected it a moment before sitting down, sighing in bliss. "Ooh yeah. This is a nice chair. Mmm.."

Goldilocks stayed there a while, enjoying the chair and being off her feet. She was beginning to doze when she decided she should probably leave if she wanted to make it to the party she planned to attend on the other side of the woods. As she stood up though, her stomach let out a fierce rumble. "Oh God I sound like a wild animal. Why didn't I eat any breakfast today? I'm so stupid, crap." She was whining to herself wondering what to do when suddenly a brief gust of wind brought a smell to her nose. Food?

She took a few quick steps to peer around a doorway into the kitchen and saw what appeared to be three big bowls of porridge. She felt her mouth water slightly at the prospect of food. "But come on, I mean. This is obviously someone's food. I shouldn't just eat someone's food...But no one came when I was sitting in that chair. Maybe they left...I mean they probably wouldn't notice if I ate just a little."

The golden haired home invader made her way over to the table, still casting glances around. She decided to go for the first bowl, steam still rising from its top. But as she grasped the spoon with her fingers she let out a little yelp. "Holy crap that's hot! That's like. Molten. No way uh-uh I'll burn my mouth." She sniffed slightly, cradling her slightly reddened hand against her chest as she turned to the second bowl. She gingerly reached out and touched the spoon, after she wasn't burned she took a slow spoonful to her mouth, and only just managed to keep from spitting it back out. "Eeeugh. Gross, this is so cold and clumpy. Who would eat it like that? Ick." The picky food thief finally looked to the final bowl which was giving off some slight steam. She picked up the spoon and sampled the food. "Mmm. Now this is porridge. This one has good taste." She happily sampled some more of the porridge, only just stopping herself from eating a huge amount of it. She absently licked her lips as she let out a yawn.

"Uuugh oh man I'm so tired. How am I going to get any walking done when I'm so tired? I can't go sleep outside I might die..." She felt her feet move of their own accord and she was about to sit down in the comfortable chair from before when she suddenly caught site of a room just beyond her with beds. She hesitated, chewing at her lower lip before musing "Well, it does looks really comfy...And no one's been home yet. What's the harm?"

She made her way into the room and sat down on the first mattress and was about to lay down before her nose wrinkled, bouncy slightly on the mattress. "Wow this is lumpy. What a terrible place to sleep." She stood up and staggered tiredly over to the second mattress, plopping her bottom down on it and letting out a small shriek as she felt herself sink really deeply into it. She scrambled up and away from it, looking down at the mattress in shock. "What even. What kind of mattress DOES that? No, I don't want to die." She let out another great yawn as she made her way to the last bed. She sat down and let out a pleased sigh as she immediately fell sideways on it, murmuring softly, "Just right."

To say Mama Morkko, Papa Morkko, and baby Morkko were shocked when they came home was an understatement. Their door was thrown open, their were odd shoes on their floor, their kitchen was a bit of a mess with porridge on the table and nearly half of baby's food missing, and most of all their was a strange human girl snoring obnoxiously spread out on baby's bed. Her feet were free of shoes and she had a bit of porridge smudged on her face. After staring in disbelief for a moment Papa Morkko let out a fierce roar, and the girl startled awake.

"OH MY GOD, MORKKOS!" Her eyes were wide with terror as she tried to crawl backwards away from the snarling male and angry looking mother and cub in front of her. "Oh my god why morkkos, why not any other sylesti? Morkkos are freaking scary and gross and UGH can my day GET any WORSE??" As the girl continued to snottily cry and moan over her fate, Mama Morkko felt her jaw grow slack. What an insolent little brat! She seemed nearly fully grown by human standards but was behaving worse than any sub she'd ever met. And so disrespectful of her species. Well. She would fix that.

As Papa Morkko continued to snarl at her and Goldilocks continued to make a snotty mess of her face, screaming about how unfair her life was, she didn't want to be eaten by dumb Morkkos just because her feet had hurt, Mama Morkko suddenly began to glow faintly, her feathers standing up straight as she channeled her shaman powers. A bolt of light suddenly hit Goldilocks and bowled her over.

"Uughh...My head..." Goldilocks shook her head slowly, feeling odd. And why did she suddenly hear talking instead of roaring? Did the morkkos leave? Her eyes opened and she shrieked as she saw a pair of curious eyes and snout staring down at her. She jumped back, feeling oddly heavy. Why did she feel shorter, what was going on? She looked down and saw huge blonde clawed feet before her. "I...What? WHAT?" Before she got completely hysterical she was cut off.

"Stop screaming you're scaring my cub." Goldilock's head swung around to look at the female morkko she had heard talking. Talking?? "I understand you're confused so I'll explain. I am a shaman, and I possess great powers. You came into my home, ate my family's food, and slept in my cub's bed. Worse than that, you insulted my entire species. So to teach you a lesson, you will remain a morkko until you can appreciate all the good in life you've had an respect our species as well as others. Now." Mama Morkko's eyes narrowed as she sent her a glare to match her ferocious husband beside her. "Get out." Goldilocks seemed to hesitate a moment and suddenly Baby Morkko let out a roar that scared her so bad she took off running.

Goldilocks hasn't been seen in town yet since, but there have been sightings of a strange blonde morkko skulking around. Maybe she'll learn her lesson soon?
