I got one last bag of miracle growth after finishing one of the spring tasks and am trying to decide what to put in it. In lieu of being able to snatch up a ferrikki or ryori seed outright, I thought it'd be fun to try opening one of the majestic / fabled seed bags and seeing what RNG would give me. I looks like the cheapest way to do so is by combining composted seeds. Assuming there's no extra price.

So... is there an extra hidden fee when combining composted seeds like there is when you upgrade fertilizers or what happens? Would it be better to grind a little harder and get the seed bag itself?

Also out of curiosity... why do fabled seeds sell for more than majestic?

i don't know much about the composting part of the question other then the seed your composting appear to decide the type of compost you get as i didn't use the composting system much.

as for the fabled vs majestic i have to assume it's something to do with people likeing the designs or colours more or to do with the fact that there are less themed in the majestic list like how theres a new themed ferikki in the fabled but not in the majestic or perhaps something to do with people not liking the new restircted traits that come with the majestic pets as from what i understand those pets can only generate with the traits assosiated with their theme and the majestics can generate with any of the exsisting traits for their spieces.

No clue on whether there's a combination fee for the composted seeds though??

To answer the question of the majestics pets being less costly:

It is due to time and resources. Unlike the fabled / regular speacies, fabled get less trait points on average (2 carry for lesser, 1 vis for greater and 2 vis for exceptional). Usualy, players who get majestics like to have some kind of aestetic onto them so anything bellow 1 vis isnt worth it unless you plan to make some kind of bridge with public breeder from the same themme in the futur (in witch case it's less pricy to just wait for a pb breeding reject to be sold at trap price if you can wait). Breeders that plan on making a full project out of it usualy place more focus on that perticular themme during the whole festival so by then they usualy already are starting to breed.

Since most ways to get more/better fertiliser are running low, it isnt worth it to go on a race against the cloak in hope to get enough supples since it would most likely require fusing 100 lesser fertiliser at this point. There is however more then enough time to get one last shoot at getting that rare / new trait that players were trying to get, since normal breed are plentifull already in everyone inventory (unless they composted them) it cause the fabled to become the most interesting ones avalable at the very end of the festival. ^-^

I know this is probably dumb but are the restricted traits only found on majestic pets? Or do they appear on others? And are the majestics even guaranteed one of those traits??

Majestic themes can only have the one restricted trait set assigned to them (eg, Wind Serpent Aeridini can only have traits from the Wind Serpent set, Pixie Plum Qits can only have traits from the Sugar plum set). Non-majestic themes cannot naturally have restricted traits but can get them via Restricted Trait Disruptors.

Majestic Themes can only ever have traits from their set (cannot be mutated, using theme trait disruptor can only randomise traits from their set on them, not any trait, RTDs cannot overwrite other restricted traits)
(no themes but those found in the lost grove have access to the Lost Grove restricted traits, at least until Krin finishes the extraction function)

Usualy, naturaly occuring (born/created with) restricted traits are saved for majestic or other kind of rare event exclusive. However, wild pets with spring blossom can be found in the spring festival during a garden bloom and several sets of restricted (usualy called grove traits) are only found in the wild of the lost grove. As for lucky dust and valentine lace, they can be generated on their respective day.

For non naturaly occuring, any pets can, in theory, get restricted traits, you just nead the right item to add it on. Outside of the grove traits, all restricted have their own disruptors. Those can be bought in the diamond shop / from other players but can also be gained from the various mini game avalable during the festivals (maze, beach, haunted house, winter wonderland), of course those drop are very rare, i dont have the numbers but i would estimate bellow 1% (unless it's my luck talking lol). There is sometime one or two in fundles so doing the "make all pets" task may be worth it once you get ferther in the game.

Yes, majestic themmed or any themmed that is preset to a certain restricted set are locked in said set. Even if you decided to disrupt one of those pets, you shoudn't be able to traits outside of that set. Now, glitches are still possible but it would be the only way for a majestic pet to escape it's set.
