I've got two tasks in my log that i've completed, but they won't go away. are they supposed to be permanent?

Have you clicked the small green checkmark in the bottom right corner of the tasks on the task page? It is easy to miss in my experience. If you have already done so and they are still there, the tasks may be bugged.
