So I've been battling with my starter pets for a while now, and I've gotten to where I can just speed run all my battles without any real strategy, and I rarely ever have to worry about health. My party build is shadow, water, and light. The only problem with them being starters is the their stats are low and the battles do take a bit longer.
I've recently come into possession of some max stat pets and I'm wanting to transition over to them since I am having trouble taking out some of the elites in the fest zones with my low stat pets. My issue is though, my max pets are horrible. I'm using essentially the same build, armor, and proficiencies as my original stater battle team the only differences is they're a lower level (two level 63 and one 70) and they get wiped out in just a few seconds with regular encounters, not even elites. I do have another almost max party that's fully leveled with different elements (earth, fire, shadow), and they too get wiped out almost instantly.
I'm starting to wonder if my battle strategy is the problem. With my starter party, I tend to just speed click 1 until the battle is over, and they do fine with health, it's just really slow. Should I be doing something differently? I figured since my max pets are higher stated I could use the same strategy as I do with my starters and it would work fine, but clearly something is wrong. I really want to switch over to my max pets but as it is right now they seem to be doing worse than my starter team.
Here's a link to all my battle pets.

which pets are you using in teams that get wiped out, as in, what combos?
I assume that Zayn/Alex/Nixie are the non-maxes, but like, are you using species specific max groups (the three venes together, the three ryos together) or a mix?

Yeah I use the three venes and three ryos, and I'm also leveling the Rikki so I throw him into the mix as well sometimes.

okay then let's see...
Venes will struggle because of the level discrepancy- in the LG, you'd be running two pets that are below the LG's base level (a team of one lv70 and two 63s in either a lv65 or lv70 area, depending on progression)
In the fest zone, you'd be running that same team against lv70s because fest zone matches highest party level. The lv70 air pet is working with two additional prof point tiers to his compatriots, or rather, they're working with two less than he is.
Additionally, the shadow tank is running a lv50 assassin bracer, and the light healer is probably going to be struggling a bit with the lv45 relic.
Ryos, uh, have no gear but I will assume this is because you're timesharing the gear with the other pets? No healer or buffer on the team (light/water), it's two tanks and an attacker? Meanwhile the low-stats are a very survivalist build- three tank elements (by their prof setups), which means the fire in the max team has no healing to support it unless you use mend or a healing item, while the low-stats are a very slow-and-steady, everyone healing/protecting themself and the team- not much damage output, but generally sturdy.
The Rikki is a lv60 (so suffers the same lack of prof points as the lv63 venes), and has lv25 gear. Regardless of it being myth gear, the relic is an Int-type relic- thus is boosting the wrong damage stat. Even if it was boosting the right one, it'd be giving a bare quarter what a vinethorn would. (Lv25 myth gear's just kinda a sad collection in the stats it boosts in any case, unlike the lv50 stuff; there's only 6 lv25 myth pieces total, and they don't follow on the modern gear style of stat division, they're jut kinda a mishmash)
To finish, the venes and ryo haven't had their moves ranked up at all, with the ryos sitting between base ranks and rank 2s, while the low stat team is sitting at Rank 3-4, which would also make a big difference to how a battle feels.
It's always a weird feeling to go from ranked pets to unranked, when you've come to expect a certain amount from moves and the unranked ones just... cannot do that yet.
