I'm not a fan of essences.
Essence breeding takes months.
I'll show you how to finish a 6-vis pet in 10 mins.
Choose your favorite pet, your favorite colors, your favorite traits,
with The Generator.
Now you need a pet and some dye.
Buy a pet with the traits you picked using Advanced Search.
Buy Lesser Pet Dye at The Scale Shop or Trade Broker.
Or buy Greater Pet Dye at the Diamond Shop or Trade Broker.
Dye your pet and that's it.

I've always loved this method lol. Been a fan of it for years, hoarded dyes and several pets I could potentially dye.
Though, there are some caveats, and I also wanted to add tips that I got over the years:
- Not all the vis you want may be available. A certain combo might not show up, especially if the genes or mutations are newer. (the older the trait, the more likely it's available in a 6vis)
- There may not be a certain pet with the combo (6vis or not) you like on sale, but in the case it does exist, you can PM the owner to try and negotiate a price. It doesn't hurt to ask, but always be cordial about it!
- Take advantage of dye prices. If there's a festival or event that possibly gives out pet dyes, the prices in the broker may drop. Dyes are lucrative and sometimes have leverage in other trades, so buy them when they're low in price. When they're higher, it's discouraging to buy them lol, especially when there's like 10 color slots per pet.
- If you feel like what you want isn't on the market yet, don't feel hesitant to start your own project! Buy your own offspring that have the traits you want (from advanced search) and start breeding those. :)
- If you do breed your own pets, I find it much easier to dye the end result offspring than the parents (especially if you want to introduce other off-color parents during breeding)
Good luck breeding, dyeing, and buying. :)
