Ok...so I was doing a bit of an experiment where I am training a few different parties.

After getting to a certain level I attuned each pet in one party while in another I left them as they are.

What I noticed is that the un-attuned pets seemed to be doing better overall in battle than the attuned pets. This seems odd because as you increase a stat you'd think there would be a discernible difference in how they fared in battle.

Indeed there is, at least in my view, it seems that when my one party was un-attuned they did quite well in battle even with minimal armor and accessories but as soon as they were assigned a proficiency then it seems like suddenly they were doing badly.

Sadly it seems I cannot un attune my pets; I am better off just leveling my pets and relying on armors, etc than to use proficiency trees.

What has been your experience or insight?

Personally, I see no difference between Attuned and Non-Attuned.

True enough though for me it just seemed that as soon as a pet was attuned then it really did poorly in battle.
Having to wait for so many levels before getting another proficiency point seems tedious but...oh well.

That...doesn't seem right.

Would you be able to provide links of the pets that you attuned vs. battled with un-attuned?

This party has been attuned: https://www.sylestia.com/explore/party/?preset=13286

This one has not been attuned: https://www.sylestia.com/explore/party/?preset=13112

However since I have just recently started this experiment of mine, I have to get my pets to at least level 25 or 26 so they can be equipped with better stuff but it just seemed that even with minimal or even no armor the un-attuned fared better. So the stats probably will not yield an accurate analysis of the matter.

Perhaps because the party is attuned that affects how the adversaries attack.
However with my second party I am going to leave them un-attuned to see what the results will be.

To be honest, overall the abilities that attuned pets receive doesn't seem to be all that useful so perhaps one should wait untiil the pets are a higher level before choosing a element tree but so far it seems, to me at least, that the armor and accessories do far more to support the critters than any aligned element.

Well..I will keep trying and seeing what works best, the guides are nice but in the end you just gotta go with what works.

You'll have to link the individual pets.

Those links take me to my own party preset XP

If you want to gauge pet effectiveness, you have to look at the base stats. these will be the numbers in the brackets. as a random example:

health: 150 (150)
strength: 75 (15)
intelligence: 11(11)
dexterity: 65 (12)
agility: 13 (13)

Are you using this guy in your un-attuned party?

https://www.sylestia.com/view/pets/?petid=2680031

He's a max stat! all his base stats are at 100 and hp at 2000. That is going to make a massive difference in any battle, regardless of equipment and attunement.

Leaving pets unattuned turns out worse for the pet because they aren't receiving any stat bonuses at all as they level.

Nope. The pet you have linked is not in the party I am currently using.

I only use pets like him to help train up other pets more quickly.

In the one party I mentioned, all pets are at level 20 so I attuned them and it just seemed like there was no real difference. Perhaps when they get to level 25 and get better equipment on them but just for pits and giggles I will make another party with level zero pets and attune them right away to see what happens.

As for linking to party pets, I don't know why it links to yours because I copied and pasted the url of the specific parties in question.

Oh well...thanks for the replies.
