So I recently bred two of my captured Qitari's and produced this little guy:
I tested his genetics and found him recessive for both Double Fade and Gnarled Horn. Which would be nice, except neither of his parents carry Double Fade. They've both been gene tested also. His mom, Symphonia, is visible for Gnarled Horn and isn't supposed to have anything else. His father, Brutus, carries Quagga and is visible for Striped Scales which occupies the same gene slot as Double Fade!
Has anyone else encountered a similar phenomenon?

@Hokiehorse,
I have encountered similar things with Luporas. If you breed luporas with the husky gene you sometimes get runic swirl instead and vice versa, also applies to the Hyena markings gene with runic swirl

This is actually quite common with captured pets! The father shows striped scales, but actually carries double fade in the same slot. If you click and drag his image to a separate tab you can see his genetics. In gene slot 3 it shows AB. A being Striped Scales and B being double fade. Striped Scales is dominant to Double fade so in the AB scenario Striped scales will always show.
This applies to all species.
