After virtually an entire year of work (somewhere in the realm of 500 total work hours), we have finally finished and released the Lupora Revamp! Overall, we are very pleased with how everything turned out and we hope you all will be too!
What Changed?
We obviously completely rebuilt all of the Lupora artwork from scratch. The reason for wanting to do this is that the original artwork was very outdated and no longer matched our current style of artwork. The revamped artwork now leads the way and helps to bring a much beloved species on par with the artwork of our more recently released/revamped species.
In addition to the artwork itself, we also reorganized their Traits (pretty much just their Genes) so that all of their Trait Slots can flow much better with one another. This lead to the following slot allocation:
G1: Main body. Mostly coat patterns.
G2: Mane only patterns and designs.
G3: Bit of a flex slot. Either body runes or tail/ear accents.
M1: Body mutations, like armors and wraps.
M2: Wings, alternate manes, and particle effects.
M3: Head mutations, like horns and helmets.
We also looked at specific Traits and in most cases we tried to improve the original concept by adding a lot more depth and detail. We also completely reconceptualized some Traits that we felt were very lacking in detail originally, such as Shadow Markings.
Re-Generations
A Player Guide on the Re-Generation Process
With any revamp comes Re-Generations, at least at this point in time. =P Lupora were no exception. However, we tried to be a bit more precise with how they were awarded. As was discussed in an earlier thread where we received a great amount of feedback, we felt that limiting the Re-Generations to, what we deemed to be valid circumstances, is better for Sylestia as a whole long term. I may leave some things out, as it was a ton of various criteria, but here's what qualified for Re-Generations:
*Please note, Themed and Purebreds are exempt from receiving any Color Re-Generations*
-As was originally stated, all Lupora had the following done. AC2 was set to their current C3. AC1 was set to their current EC. C3 was set to their current C2. Additionally, C2, AC1, and AC2 are all able to be Re-Generated.
-Lucky Dust and Valentine Lace were left alone and not removed at all. If they were a Hidden Carry and the Visible Trait was moved, they became full Visible and the respective Color Slot Re-Gen'able. In the case of Lucky Dust, which was moved from M3 to M2, it overwrote whatever was in M2. Those points can now be Re-Gen'd. If you have a pet with Trait Points to Re-Gen that has Valentine Lace or Lucky Dust and you would like either removed, please send me a PM with what you specifically want removed and which pet(s) you want it removed from.
-Shadow Markings, Tribal Markings, Runic Swirl, Spotted Fox, and Harlequin were either conceptually changed or split into multiple slots. As such, they triggered Re-Gens if they were the Visible Trait. If they Carried, they were left alone as all still had a part remain in their original slot. Color Slots could be Re-Gen'd of the original slot and of all new slots the specific Gene split to.
-Kitsune, Maned Wolf, and Dalmatian triggered full Gene Re-Gen's as they were moved and split up in some varying fashion. There were just way too many complicated scenarios and I felt it was best to let players reallocate all Genes if the pets had these Traits. GC1, GC2, and GC3 can also be Re-Gen'd.
-Doberman, Yeti, Faded Leopard, Tipped, Frosted Glass, and Leaf Veins were all attempted to move into their new slots - as they conceptually stayed the same and just moved locations. If their destination was empty, they were just simply moved. If not, it resulted in a full Gene Re-Gen, colors included.
-All Generated Pets are allowed to be Full Re-Gen'd.
-All non-Themed Exclusive Pets are allowed to be Color Re-Gen'd.
-All non-Purebred Offspring Pets are allowed to be Color Re-Gen'd.
-All Pets who were either Mutated or had a Trait Disruptor used on them can be full Trait Re-Gen'd.
-All Pets who had a Dye used on them can have that slot Color Re-Gen'd. If a Pet had more than one slot Dyed, then each can be Color Re-Gen'd. *Please note, tracking only goes back so far with this. If your pet was dyed before tracking began, this did not apply to them. I'm sorry. =( *
*Disclaimer: This is mostly from memory lol, so I may not 100% describe how things actually happened. If you notice any discrepancies, just ping me in the thread and let me know*
Themed Pet Designs
At this time, most, if not all, Themed Pet Designs are probably not looking so hot because of how colors got switched around and whatnot. As soon as we have the available time (hopefully, next week) we will begin the process of adjusting all Lupora Themed Pet Designs so that they look nice and still reflect the original design.
This will be a community driven process so we will be seeking input until the designs are all finalized. If are you interested in participating, please look for the appropriate thread once it's announced.
Once a design is finalized, owners of that Themed Pet (Purebred included), will have an option to update their pet to the new color scheme. Alternatively, you can ignore this update and keep the pet as it is now. It will entirely be up to you!
