Jewel threw them her most dazzling smile. "Hi, Skyfyexe! Emerald! So, what time do I forage. I sort-of forgot. Time confuses me as much as my tail sometimes." she smiled shyly. Then she blushed. No one needed to know that secret for as long as she lived. But, alas, she was saying this to a complete stranger. Her mating must have done something to make her a tiny bit mixed up. Then she looked at the horizon. Lightning said he would patiently wait for her. And if her hatchling did something big, like take flight for the first time, he would grab her. She'd have to trust her mate. It was all she could do.
Lightning (+ Xylon)
Lightning hustled the dark bundle of scales into the dreary tunnel. He dropped it on a stone in the middle of the cave. Lightning glared at the little dragon, lightning crackling.
"Why." he asked it, though he knew he wouldn't answer. The tiny dragon mumbled something, crawling over to his father. He was oblivious to the harsh looks and threats from the older dragon. "Why!" the older dragon roared. Xylon scampered back. He looked at Lightning in fear. He whimpered, afraid of the thing his father had become. Lightning stomped forward threateningly. Xylon raced back, until the cold wall stopped him.
"Why." Lightning said once more, before storming back out. Xylon tried to follow, but soon got lost among the tangle of paths and switchbacks. He didn't realize that his father was leaving him.
And he didn't know he was marked with the sign of death. It had started taking its toll already. Xylon collapsed, falling into a unobstructed dream, crying himself to sleep.
(Are dragons superstitious? I'm guessing for this one. At least Lightning is.)

He heard lightning roar and flew to help xylon but he blew wisp of light and found him crying
"Xylon come with me to your mum and tell her what happened"
