Out of the 6 elements, which 3 would be best to use? And what species of sylesti's do you recommend as well? I know some sylesti's are better than others, stat wise so I just want to know.

Currently my party has a light, water and fire type but not sure if that's a good build.

Light is always healer.

Air does good damage in my opinion

Fire does multiple attacks, which I seem to like for no good reason.

IDK about the others but I have bad tanks for sure ;D so still ifgurig nit out.

But im going by what others have said.

I personally use shadow as a tank.

I changed a bit so my heaer is also my tank, and air and fire just switch around.

I should stick to my usual one but I need the kill rates to rise.

Team build can be really flexible and is ultimately up to you, but there are some setups that may work better than others.

The typical "well-balanced" team has one of each of the following:
Tank (earth, shadow; water can tank; sometimes light)
Healer (light; water can do some but isn't quite up to light's level)
Cannon/damage dealer (air, fire)

Any slight bonuses to a species's stats don't matter much. The proficiency points more than make up for it. Also, if you happen to have max or super stats, every species starts from a level field.

I know earth-light-air is a pretty popular party build; it's what I use in my two main parties. More people seem to like air over fire, but fire is a perfectly valid cannon. Water is gaining in interest partly due to the strategies against the new TLG cave bosses.

The one thing I would always recommend in a party is light. Whether it doubles as tank or only acts as healer, light is really useful. It's possible to get around it if you can get through fights really fast, but that's hard to pull off and is a strategy better suited to messing around while you wait for new content, not for progressing the story itself.

In short, light-water-fire seems like a decent enough setup to me. With a light tank you /might/ be able to pull off a second cannon instead of water, but it's up to you.

This one has served me very well:
Fire Cannon

Shadow Tank

Light Healer

And this one is a pretty good backup:
Air Cannon

Shadow Tank

Light Healer

For me, my Shadow tank, my Light healer, and my Air cannon are my best friends. Bosses rarely take me more than two trys once I figured out how to use them together.

In my oppinion, Fire's better for normal encounters (Because it hits more targets at once), while Air is better for most bosses (Because Strom+Torrential Blow+Slash=Considerable damage). That said, both are pretty good in either situation.

I'm not too crazy about Water. The buffing just doesn't work for me.

Light is essential for any battle. Almost every light move can heal, which makes all of your sylestis stay in the fight longer. I've found that healing using Fairy Light or Restoration when a pet falls below 85% health is usually pretty effective.

Tanks are also essential. I'm trying to train an Earth tank, and still trying to figure out his quirks.

That said, I love my Shadow tank. He's a reliable one, for sure. The way Shadow tanks work is that they last a long time by sapping their target's health with attacks like Leeching Strike or Force. Being paired with a Light makes them last even longer.

@Orca2Whale
Sorry wrong person... (oops)

I'd say dark, fire, and light. I say dark because the pets I have (that are dark) that are at level 0 have defeated level 13 uncommons with 56% health left. Fire because of the same reason. Also light because they are the healers.

Earth, Water, and Air pets are weak to me because I have used some pets in the past that were attuned to that element.
