evertime, everytime I press "move closer" its always a ridiculously hard boss fight. Does it ever do anything different? what are the chances?

It's the Umbra forest in the first stage, and while I'm at it, how long do these stages last? it takes me forever to get through them.

As you get closer, whatever it is senses you and stops moving.

If so, then a fight is the most common outcome. Rarely you can find a lost eggling or hatchling.

If you're having trouble with the fights (these encounters should not be boss fights, just regular encounters), then it may be because of your party setup. I see that you only have two party pets, and both are aligned to Fire. I'd recommend unlocking the third slot as soon as you're able, and balancing out your party a bit more.

Having a "tank" element (earth, shadow, sometimes water) would help your party survive longer. So would adding a light pet as a healer. You can add a third pet with one of these elements and/or change one of your fires' elements. For example, you could level up this shadow pet to use as a tank, and then switch one fire pet to light.

Also, your pets' equipment could use a little work.

-Iridescence has an Illusionist relic, Thunder's Armor, an Assassin bracelet, and a Disciple bracelet. Of these, only the relic and sort of the Disciple bracelet have the intelligence boost for fire. Thunder's Armor and the Assassin bracelet boost strength, which fire does not use.

-Similarly, Lagoon Lad has an Assassin relic, Disciple armor, a Disciple bracelet, and Thunder's Bracelet. Again, Thunder's Bracelet and the Assassin relic boost strength, and Disciple equipment does not have as strong a boost to intelligence as fire would want.

Fire is an intelligence-based element, so you should look for Exotic or Illusionist equipment, or possibly Arcanist. Disciple is okay, but not the best. You should never use Assassin, Myrmidon, or Ravager equipment for a fire pet.

Furthermore, much of their equipment is blue rarity and/or below their level. You can check the Trade Broker for lv25 epic or legendary equipment - you can find some for under 2000g.

The stages are only cleared after you win (or maybe just fight) a certain number of battles. I had trouble with that too, back in the day...
