How can you tell the difference between a legendary pet

A legendary pet has gold stars and 6 trait points. They can only be caught using a master trap unless you are in the Lost Grove then you can catch with any pet trap.

Worth mentioning that in TLG, you /could/ catch a legendary with any grove trap, since traps work differently in TLG. Masters are still easiest because grove legs are strong and can easily murder you if they eat too many traps. But technically you /could/ catch one with a green grove trap, if you got lucky.

Outside of TLG, though, yeah, it's only master traps.

The term "legendary" only applies to tamed pets. Offspring, exclusives, etc. are never considered legendary even if they have 6TP (e.g. a 3v exclusive theme would not be called legendary). And that nixi has 12TP, anyways.

Leg breakdown, to reiterate:
-Tamed pet (orange/yellow stars when fighting)
-6TP (can be 1v4c, 2v2c, or 3v)
-Caught with master traps outside of TLG, or any grove traps inside TLG
-Can also be bought from the scale shop, technically, since those are tamed (~1980+ scales)

Examples:
TLG legendary (was mutated to have 4v; when caught he was 3v - note the wild stats because he came from TLG)
Leg caught with a master
Scale shop leg (probably around 2200 scales)
Bonus leg puff, technically, bought from the puff shop in Ethernia
