Helloooo again,
I'm still figuring this game out, and there's a lot of things I wanna try, like making my own breeding projects and stuff. That seems fun, but I have NO idea where to start or how to even begin that when I can't afford to spend real money on diamonds for essences and stuff... I heard that you can add genes to tamed/captured pets. Is that true? And if so, how? Do you buy the genes somewhere? I assume it's diamonds also so probably stuck with the same issue again but eh... I really wish this game had a system to search for specific colors and genes on pets that are currently up for sale at least, that might help a lot.
Looking for any help and tips I can get on this. I really wanna make some breeding projects with clown and mime color schemes! It would be so cute but I have no idea where to begin

you can buy essences, dyes, mutaters (greater add gene of choice, lesser add random gene v/c) w/ gold in the trade broker

there IS a system to search for specific genes but not colors. there are so many color options so that would be useless.. you can search pets for sale/breeding on adv search

what some ppl do for projects is breed genes and then dye the colors when done, or use essences

regens are also a option ( notice hes not dyed and has way dofferent colors/genes than parents)

if you dont find what your looking for you can advertise in the pet/item marketplaces that you want a specific thing (like 'ISO lupora essence, ' 'LF pet dye,' 'seeking zolnixi w/ back stripes,' ect )

for the most part the players here are great and some may be willing too sell cheaper than broker/free, but when looking for stuffs just remember begging is against site rules. dont specifically ask for free things (like 'donate me essence since im broke!' would be considered begging ) but if you offer something when buying its ok ^-^

gl w/ your search/breeding projects xD

-Sometimes you can buy essences and mutators (to add traits) with gold on the trade broker. There may not always be the specific essence(s) you want though, and mutators can be expensive. But you can avoid using dias if you can save up.

-You could also look at the scale shop. You can buy mutators there, too, although they give random traits, so they may not be ideal. There are also dyes, which can be useful for projects too.

-You can also trade gold for dias on the currency exchange, if you do end up needing dias. Again, this can be a bit expensive for a new player, but it is a good option to be aware of.

-There's also a summer fest coming up real soon. It depends on what your interests are, but selling themed pets, fest currency, etc. can be pretty profitable. That could then give you funds for other things, including projects.

More generally...
-Guide to essences
-Guide to breeding for traits (specifically to 6v, but many tips can be applied to projects in general)
-Guide to making gold (to help fund your endeavors)
-Guide to regens, if you happen to try that route.
