I kinda dont get it, and i feel kinda stupid, but anyways.
So it says it will replace an already visible trait, but then it also says that a valid slot can have nothing in it as well and it can put the trait there.
What? I want to use this on my WE lups but also not destroy them (as i kinda did to a puff years before), and i'm not sure if i like the flame mane so much on the female, but it seems to be a possible replacement so now i'm....uhhhhhhh

it means it will take away that vis gene and make it one of the fire dancer. it just cant do it if there are no vis genes, or if there are no empty/ vis slots.
about your WE lup, yes she might get the mane. it can take away the g3 and make it the fire dancer g3, m1, or m3. OR it can take away the wings and give her one of the mutations. if you dont like it you can use the regular disrupt to randomize them. she will lose the res but you can do another firedancer disrupt

well, the hidden can hardly stay? The RTD's take the 2TP that make up a vis trait and use them to make the Restricted trait (which is why it cannot use slots that have Carried traits) (and, as with genetic mutators, will never somehow give the restricted trait a hidden. Not even possible for the lup fire dancer traits to have a hidden trait at this point anyway since they're the newest additions)
If you use an RTD on a first-gen themed pet, you can always use a Theme Disruptor Philter on them, which will remove the Restricted trait and give it a random non-restricted (and then you can try to RTD again if you wanted a different trait, but it's hardly assured what you'll get since it's always random)

If you are wanting a specific restricted trait it is best to breed an offspring that will force it to give you what you want. I pretty much never use restricted trait philters on tagged pets because there is usually at least one trait I dont care for and rng hates me, so I know which trait I will end up with. :-P
Taking the new lup restricted for example: If I want m3 fire dancer horns I would need an offspring with carried traits in g3, m1 and m2 and then a visible trait in any of the other slots. This way the philter will remove the visible trait and be forced to give m3 because the carried traits block all of the other slots.
