Alright, so, a couple things. ><

First, the info. I went ahead and parsed the expired currency for last year's Fall Festival. A couple changes went into place. Firstly, the sale price of each individual expired token was reduced from 500 Gold to 400 Gold each. Moving forward for the next year's worth of Festivals, this price adjustment will apply to all other expired tokens. The price may also drop further over time. I will just continue evaluating and adjusting for each festival.

Secondly, reimbursed expired tokens were capped at 5,000. Basically, the script added up all of the player's expired items and their set values and capped that number at 5,000.

All of that said, a total of ~1,800 players received about 135,000,000 Gold in expired tokens, or about an average of 75,000 Gold per player.

Now, the really bad news. During this process, I accidentally parsed out the Summer Festival's Beach Sculpting Supplies/Catalysts and purged the Fall Festival's Brewing Supplies/Catalysts... so not only were values returned to players incorrect, but I also cannot recover them without doing a database restoration... which I am not really inclined to do as it's a major pain to manage that. I will have to check our backup system and see if I can remember how to do that. If I'm able to - I will and re-parse players for them. But at this point, I cannot promise it.

As for players receiving their Summer Festival Supplies/Catalysts in 2020... I won't be re-issuing them again as that would just be duplicating the reimbursement. However, I will make a note and if the cap persists still at that point, I will raise players' individual caps by the amount they had in Supplies/Catalysts. So for example, if the cap remains at 5,000 still for next year's Summer Festival and a player had 1,000 tokens reimbursed directly from their Supplies/Catalysts, they won't necessarily receive an additional 1,000 tokens again, but their cap would be raised to 6,000. So if they capped out from other expired token sources, they'd be eligible to get up to an extra 1,000 compared to the norm.

I am very sorry about this. >< And again, I will look into the backup restoration process and see if I can easily get that information back and then properly process it for players.

I definitely did not get my summer fest currency...I did have at least 20k tokens for summer fest. Most ive ever had for any fest i've done. Sadly, this is rough news for me, lol.

Thanks for the heads up tho..

For Summer stuff, ONLY Beach Sculpting Supplies/Catalysts were parsed. Left over items and Sun Tokens were NOT parsed. They will be parsed as normal before next year's Festival.

Just for a bit of clarification, out of curiosity.

-The cap of reimbursed tokens is 5000. Okay. I've been saving expired tokens like a rainy day fund. If, for example (just making up numbers), I had 2000 tokens sitting in my inventory and was set to get 4000 reimbursed next time, would the existing expired tokens affect that calculation? Or would it recognize that the new 4000 is under the cap of 5000 and leave me with a stack of 6000?

-I'd done a ridiculous amount of hoarding with winter fest supplies. In frost tokens alone, I had over 22,000 left, and then a bunch of other supplies as well. When winter fest comes around, assuming the 5000 cap still applies... will the extra ~18k just vanish? Or will there be some kind of rotation, like 5000 convert now and the rest will stay supplies, then convert more next year? (I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't be a little sad if the rest vanish. I won't complain though... the arguments you've made against hoarding tokens make sense. Just seeking clarification.)

But I still have over 1700 active chocolate coins in my inventory and a bunch of brewing supplies. I'm confused. . .

They would unfortunately be wiped out, yes. It would be a limit of 5000 per year and every year completely resets everything and everything is wiped out.

I don't entirely follow the first question. The script basically is supposed to add up all sources of reimbursed tokens and come up with a total number at the end. If that total number is above the cap, it reduces it to the cap. Then it hands out whatever that final number is to the player and everything is wiped out from the database.

Whelp. This was a total disaster.

I forgot to actually parse the actual Chocolate Coin items the first time around...

Sooo, added that to the script and re-ran it. However, what was handed out prior is not stored anywhere. So I have no clue what people were at for cap related issues. So I'm sure a lot ended up getting well over the cap if they had enough stuff in places.

Oh well. -_-

The script's fixed up and whatnot now... so... should not be an issue moving forward. ><

Mm, let me try to reword it then. Just an example, of course; all numbers and stuff are made up.

Say this fall fest, I end with 2000 tokens left over.

Next fall fest, this will presumably turn into 2000 expired tokens. It's under the cap - no problem. But I don't sell them right away, because I want to save them for when I need gold. (Kind of like hoarding mission satchels and opening them when you need to buy things.)

Next fall fest, I end with 4000 tokens left over.

The year after that, when it's time for tokens to expire again. Those 4000 would want to turn into 4000 expired tokens. But I still have the stack of 2000 left in my inventory. Would the old 2000 expired tokens and the incoming expired tokens collectively max out to 5000 expired tokens? Or would the 4000 left over, being under the 5000 cap, expire as 4000 tokens and merge with the old 2000 into a stack of 6000?
