Okay, I hope this isn't a ridiculous question, but I see in my inventory two distinct types of health consumables which are Potions and Elixers. Potions can't be used in battle, but elixers can I assume? If that's the case, HOW do you use them in battle? I'm tired of my pets becoming unconscious and me having to re-start incredibly tough fights. :c And if that's not the case, aside from pet abilities, what items can be used in battle to heal health?

You got it right. Potions cannot be used in battle while elixirs and draughts can.

On the same bar as your attack options you'll see a red arrow that says "manage party". You can find your elixirs in there.

Elixir/draught usage in Regions 1 & 2

> manage party button (the red arrow, shortcut letter 'P')

> there's a button at the bottom of the screen it pulls up that says "Use Item" click it

> this brings up another screen which displays your elixirs and draughts; select the one you want to use

> clicking one of the items takes you back to the screen that shows your pets; click the pet you want to use the item on

> clicking one of the pets will take you back to the battle screen. The pet you selected should have this symbol in their info box above their level (top left corner):
The manage party button should be highlighted green.

If you selected wrong (either the item or the pet):

> Click the Manage Party button again

> Click 'Use Item' again

> Click the item you selected previously (will be highlighted green) to deselect it (this with deselect both the item and the pet)

> Select the correct item+pet combo

Ahh, thank you SO MUCH. Are there key-board short cuts for all the actions in battling btw? Like selecting the enemy to attack?

I'll make sure to stock up on healing junk now that I know!!

There are, yes. It depends on what battle system you're using, though. Once you get to the Lost Grove you can select both the attacks and targets using your number keys. So if I want to use the first move and attack the center pet I just press 1-1-1-1-1-1. Much easy. Before the Lost Grove, though, you're kind of out of luck. I think you're only able to select the moves using your number keys.
