Hello all! I hope despite the times we are living in everyone is doing well and thriving. You have mine and everyone else's wishes for you and your family to stay safe and well, remember you can always reach out to me if you need to talk :)

Anyways, to get onto site news we are having The Lucky Fest! The Lucky Fest is still going on until:

Sunday, April 5th at 11:59 PM

So take some time out of your day to participate! And in the words of Krin:

"Diamond Sale, Double XP Event, Doubled Themed Chance

For the entire duration of this year's Fortune Event, there will be a Diamond Sale, a Double XP Event, and all Wild Themed within the Lost Grove will have a doubled base rate of being encountered! Due to the various real-world issues that we are all coping with at this time, I felt that it made the most sense to just have all of these bonuses last for the entirety of the event, rather than for a select part of it.

For the Themed Encounter Rate Bonus, it is a doubled increase chance on the base rate. This means that this will stack with the Perfume Bonus!"

So we all have good things to look forward too! This Fortune Event we also have some other fun games~

This Event we once again have the Task Log, which completing tasks on it gets you a piece of a lucky pot ticket or a fortune event themed pet!

Now taking off from that last thing you might be wondering what the Lucky Pot is! The Lucky Pot is a scratch card, with a chance to win prizes. If you get 10 pieces of the lucky pot tickets you can combine them to make one whole ticket, which allows you to take a chance at winning the jackpot and other prizes!

Along with the Lucky Pot we also have a new game, coming first to you this event. This game is called Lucky Draw Mini Game.

In this game you are betting on whether your card is lower or higher than the card shown.

When playing this you earn points which can be sold to prizes!

Now besides these games we also have Forum Games. One of the forum games is:
The cand.... er, peanut guess!

In this game you have to guess how many peanuts are in the cup (personally I think it's *at least* five) and send your guess into OfficialGames!

We also have a word search, which once finished send into OfficialGames with the subject as "Fortune Event Word Search"

We also have the return of the pookas and keepers of the clover, which I will let Krin explain to you:

We also have new themed pets (which I will showcase below). Speaking of pets, all pets until the end of the festival can be generated with any restricted Lucky Traits!

(New themes)
Eventide Windchaser Luffox

Auspicious Water Dragon Sylvorpa

(Returning themes)
Veiled Fortune Luffox

Sakura Lupora

Exalted Puffadore

And finally, last but not least, we have some staff favorites from the 'Create a Lucky Pair' (which you can still enter!) and have a chance at your pair being created! (We will, of course, be showcasing seven pairs as this is lucky number!)

Godiva's Irish Luck pair

Asphodel's Gold Leaf pair

Liria's Gold Pot pair

Sandstorm514's Lucky pair

Catintheheadlight's pair

Torey's Lucky Calico pair

Limor's Lucky Black Cat pair

Hey and welcome to Sylestia Book Review! A quick rundown of this; This is a book review, where we review many types of literature (Its in the name pretty much). A few examples of what we review are mangas, novels, and light novels (But are not limited to just those). This month were reviewing 2 books. So, lets jump in, shall we?
Our first book on the list is Hikaru No Go, which is a manga! (I hope I spelled that correctly).
Then, our second book is the classic, To Kill a Mockingbird. (An amazing book, I must say)

There may be spoilers, so beware!

So, jumping into this. Hikaru No Go was written by Yumi Hotta and illustrated by Takeshi Obata, and also supervised by Yukari Umezawa. This manga also has an anime, so if you like the manga, then I recommend checking that out. Ill be telling you about the first issue mostly, but may speak about more of the future issues.
This whole manga is surrounded around the game, Go. Which I have actually tried after reading this manga, and found difficult. The manga follows 2 protagonists and a sort of antagonist, but the antagonist isnt really evil/mean. The 2 protagonists are Hikaru Shindou, and Sai.
Sai is a ghost that comes from a go board and Hikaru is the only person that can see Sai. Hikaru starts learning to play Go and basically plays for Sai at a few moments. Sai teaches Hikaru as well, as Hikaru starts wanting to beat the antagonist named Akira Touya. Akira Touya is a promising Go player, and Hikaru was the only one to beat Akira Touya (Even though Sai did the thinking). And Akira starts yearning to play against Hikaru again, which Hikaru denies as he wants to get up to Akiras level so he can beat Akira himself. And that is where I will leave you off.
I will give this manga a 9/10, because of the art and the nice storytelling, though it can be a little confusing on how to play Go, even if there are mini explanation parts here and there.

Now, to get to the classic. The one. The only. To Kill a Mockingbird! This book is written by Harper Lee. Youve probably already read this book because your English teacher made you. If you did read it that way, then were in the same boat. But, Im glad my teacher forced me to read this book with my class! This is one of my most favorite books, which is a lot to say since most of my favorites are fantasy books. This book has 1 main character (I think), and about 5 extra main characters (Thats a thing now). The main character being, Scout Finch. The 5 extra main characters are (kind of) - Dill, Atticus Finch, Tom Robinson, Jem Finch, and Boo Radley. (Boo Radley is not actually the real name, I just like it better. And hes not very prominent in the story, but hes still useful at a certain part in the book). Tom Robinson is probably a character that some people have cried over. (Spoilers!) Since he had been found guilty, even though all of the evidence was against Mayella.
Ill explain the characters real quick since youre probably confused. Tom Robinson is an African American who is accused of a terrible crime. Jem Finch is the main characters old brother (So a kind of role model). Atticus Finch is a lawyer thats defending Tom and is Jem/Scouts dad. Boo Radley is a man that Scout/Jem/Dill all want to see and seems mysterious with myths surrounding him. Dill is a boy that Scout is gonna marry (Joke), and visits in the Summer.
The books main theme is Racism in the 1930s (Or around that time). The title has a meaning, which I forgot already because of my amazing memory. Anyways, I won't describe the actual book too much, because I want you to read it.
Ill give this book an 8.5/10 because there are a few spelling mistakes and grammatical errors (Sounds like this article). And yeah, I know this book was made a while ago and they didn't have Grammarly or amazing spell checking computers, but still- one of the most important things for a book is correct grammar and spelling (Which I suck at, and this mini rant is mostly my opinion, but I believe it is still needed and can change the rating of a book)

Hello, Limor now (and will be until the end) but I will be telling you all about a Podcast. This podcast is something you can perhaps use to pass any free time you have or listen to while your drawing or cleaning.

I personally love this podcast and its strange stories and wacky tales, I even have a character based in the universe. I highly highly suggest listening to them and in October of this year I will even be seeing them live with my Mom (Who I have made listen to this podcast on multiple occasions)

This Podcast is Welcome to Nightvale. I will be telling you about this podcast in the style of it's host, Cecil the radiostation host of the strange town of Nightvale:

Hello all and Welcome to Nightvale. Today I will be telling any possible Newcomers of Nightvale about of glorious little town. Now newcomers: leave! Nightvale does not want you here. Who knows who you are, have you even followed the rules of always talking loudly (and never closing your windows) so that the secret police can hear you? Have you entered the dog park... hopefully you haven't... who knows what horrors you would fine (Perhaps a beagle puppy who is a good boy, though is he really?). I suppose if you have to come to Nightvale you must get used to listening to me, your host Cecil Palmer, and you must always be up to date on the current news. Now for those of you wondering about the traffic today, it is clear out. Currently night. Who know's what your future awaits, this is Nightvale. Thing's seem bleak. The only thing the Moonlite All-Night Diner has not run out of is Invisible Pie (Which we all know, except you newcomers, is unfulfilling and not satisfactory at all). You are perhaps... now listening to this new station and being Welcomed to Nightvale just as we all once were in our youth and our childhood. And now, a word from our sponsors...

So sadly this time around I didn't get to an interview, so I will be going over one of my theme designs instead, and asking myself some of the usual questions. I will be going over my 'Cranberry Salsa' Winter 2019-2020 Fest Theme.

Now with this design I was literally just googling "Christmas Snacks" and somehow came across the wonder of Cranberry Salsa (Which I still have yet to try). I wanted to make a bright and colorful design, as usually my Morkko designs aren't the strongest. (Looking at your Glowing Moss, though that will be discussed in our next article)

Now looking back at my design I wish I made the g1 either darker or paler. It somehow got passed me in the designing stage that the g1, honestly, is pretty bland. It doesn't stand out to much against the body but over all I am happy with this design.

Out of all my designs i'm happy this one was chosen, though I would have been fine with either my Hot Toddy Lunemara or my Hellebore Sylvorpa. I liked all these designs, though I do have to say this was my favorite design of my own. I'm proud of the color use and I think my recent learning of better dealing with color theory is a great help to it.

For me, personally, when I saw my design got picked I felt satisfied. So far since the past three themed contests I've gotten at least one theme into the pick. I was glad to be able to keep up this streak and i'm already working on my spring designs (and summer!)

Now for a last bit of advice from me I would say: start on your designs months in advance. Being able to leave your designs alone for months, which allow time for growth, lets you go back and look at them with a fresh eye. Doing this allows you to see mistakes easier, since your eyes will not be as used to it.

I wish you all the best of luck and I hope you found this informative!

Hello everyone! My has it been awhile. In this section of the Desiner's tips I will be going over one of my old themes (that was chosen) and showcasing some wonderful lucky designs made by our own Annaheartz!

Too start off with I will be showing you a collection of designs made by Anna, and I hope we can all give her a warm welcome back after almost a year!

Feng Shui Money Frog Morkko

Lucky Scarab Aurleon

Now onto the designing with you portion...
Now to start off with this. I am not happy with this design. This is personally one of my themed designs, the Glowing Moss Morkko, which is found in The Lost Grove cave section.

Now I think the first thing I can do to tell you about this design is to show you this puffafore I made before I made the Morkko.

So, to be exact, I made this design as a one trait set puffadore. (Which I planned to regen but never did)

Now into the actual design, lets look at this design.

Now taking a look at just the traitless design, it's not bad. For me it personally only looks bad once you start adding on genes and the like.

Looking at the g1, it is... interesting?

I'm not sure exactly what I was going for but now (that i'm taking a better look at it) I think I'd like to make it a darker blue-green, which adds less of an eyeburn and just an overall generally better blend.

So now looking into that g2, we once again see a strange color choice. What is that blue?

Personally now i'd go with a gray-yellow. It for sure adds to the glowy vibe and contrasts from the bland greens.

Now by far the worst gene color is the g3. That color... it's not bright enough for runes.

Now, I would make it closer to the original g1. A brighter, flashier look that is sure to catch the eye and stand out. I think using a brighter shade would add to a more eyecatching color, that gives a more ethereal vibe.

With the m1 we actually start out on an ok note! This color works and is a nice highlight to the design.

We also have a goodnote on the m2, which works ok as well!

Same with the m3. Once again the mutations actually work well.

and now... showcasing the new design as a 6v and then showing the old design:

I hope you found this designer's tips and tricks informative and remember, send them into the times and they will be answered next time around!

Newbie Tricks and Tips
Written by Limor, Edited by Limor

So your a newbie, and you don't quite know what a regen pet is. What is all the hype? Why do people want them? What do people mean when they talk about the newest up and coming revamp? Well I am here to answer your questions!

Well, I regenable pet is a pet who's artwork has been updated and as such, is eligible to be remade in whatever way you want (within restrictions of course) For example the sites most recent revamp was the Lupora revamp.

The lupora, as some of you may not know, used to have much different artwork.

Now that they have updated art any lupora born before that time, can be updated and remade.

Any regenable pet will have that message underneath it, from Kelpari, Morkko, Lunemara, Zolnixi, Ny'vene, Puffadore, and Lupora.

All the revamped species with before and after can be seen on this wiki page here.

You might now be wondering how you can come upon one of these pets and my fine friend I am here to tell you:
Pet sales!

Your best bet of finding a regenable pet (which mind you, can cost a pretty penny) Now your way of doing this is searching in advanced search for said species you want to find a regenable pet, and setting all traits to nothing (though this will be a bit different for lupora, which you best bet for them is making a thread or looking threads on the Pet Sales section of the forum due to them having only some traits consolidated). And make sure to set your search to only pets for sale!

For more info here is a wonderful guide by Scathreoite I suggest you all give a read!

Now I hope you found this section about regenable pets informative and if you have any questions ping me or anyone else in our staff and we will be sure to answer it next newbie tips and tricks!

Now we are onto the second part of the Newbie Tips and tricks!
Written by Larkian and Orcastration, Edited by Limor
(This is Orca. Meow)

(This is Lark. Yeet.)

Newbie Tips and Tricks
A collab between Larkien and Orcastration

So, Hi. Yes, this is Orca. (I was planning on letting Lark take the first round this time but...well, I got really bored. Lockdowns suck.)

Anyways, were back to annoy everyone with more stuff about how not to fall flat on your face as a newbie in Sylestia. Which we do by telling you guys how we fell on our faces and went bankrupt a few dozen times ourselves. Or in the case of today, bore you to death with giant blocks of text.

Anyways, Spring Fest is almost upon us, which means..its about time we actually told you guys how not to waste millions (if you even have that much) of gold/diamonds/tokens/time.

Part Orca ><>
As Ive told you guys, I joined right smack in the middle of Fall Fest 2018. I dont remember much, except trick-or-treating people (a feature found in that particular fest-more on that later!) all day long. And it was probably a good thing I joined near the beginning of the fest, too, because in my opinion, the Fall Fest is one of the best for easy grinding and annoying your friends by throwing the most useless items possible at them, over and over and over. But thats besides the point.

Anyways, festivals are a big part of Sylestia. New pets, new avi items, opportunities for under-level-60 players to experience what its like to get averages of 1k gold and up per chest in the maps.you name it, the festivals probably have it. (Even orcas. Theres a themed pet for that.)

But this isnt fall fest coming up, its spring fest. So what should you know? Well, Ill tell you...soon. Ill let Lark take a quick spin first :)

Part Laarrrrrk!

Hey! Its everyones least favorite Lark here! And this issue, well be talking about festivals. Yes, yes, I know I promised to lecture yall on stable space last article, but I figured with the Spring Festival coming up soon and a lot of you sitting at home, bored, why not do something marginally more fun?
Lets talk about (drumroll, please!) festivals!
I guess that dramatic effect was already spoiled by Orca. Welp.

Festivals (or fests) are events that happen throughout the year, usually celebrating various holidays and seasons. There are four main fests, which are the Winter, Summer, Spring, and Fall fests (not in that order, obviously). These usually last for less than two months in their entirety. Forum games usually close about a month after the fest begins, and the Festival Zone (which Orca will talk about later) closes around a week before the fest itself is over.

So if each of the four major fests only last around 1 months, then what happens during the remaining 6 months of the year? Well, those are partially filled by the minor fests! These usually celebrate holidays such as Valentines Day (the Week of Love), Independence Day for the U.S. (the Patriotic Event), and St. Patricks Day (the Fortune Festival). Now these minor events tend to be shorter than the major ones, usually around 3 weeks or so. There is no Festival Zone, and they are lacking some of the smaller events of the major fests (such as Sylesti Sculpting/Growing/Brewing, which well touch on later), but theres still lots to do and many opportunities to win avatar items and themed pets! Most of the things to do in these minor fests revolve around exploring/battling in the third Sylestia region (Astryls Tranquility), and some nurturing.

There is a certain unique currency used during each fest, called tokens, earned by doing various activities and generally participating in the festival. Be sure to spend or sell all of them before the fest closes, because they will become useless forever once its over.

Orca again><>

So what should you know? Well, first off, around the start of the fest, Faiona will mass ping everyone on Sylestia with the start of various festival activities. Word searches, design competitions, and my personal favorite, the scavenger hunt, are some of the various activities available. Around that time, Krinadon will also mass ping everyone with the Spring Festival Overview, which you should most definitely read and not ignore like a certain orca does 90% of the time. The overview will stay pinned in the News and Announcements forum and the games will be in the Official Games forum. Make sure to read the rules for the various games if you decide to participate!

Once youve done that, go to the Explore tab and select the Seasonal Festival link. Or if youre in the Overview, go ahead and click on the link for anything you want to check out!

Now that you know what to expect, here are some things that will help you come out of the fest rich rather than broke (does anyone really do that?)

(Orca here. Yes, they do. I should know, my gold count went from 100k, to 2 million, to 50k, up to 3 million, and back down to about 350k within the Spring Fest time ><>).

But moving on from the craziness of how I somehow kept losing gold to the fest and re-gaining it back, how to get rich? Well, first off, actually participate! In the fest zone, your enemies match the highest level in your party. And when you hit the Lost Grove in the normal storyline, you gain ability stuff. So my advice is: In the off season, get up to the third region and the Grove. Then grind. Then during fests, you can bash up enemies like nobodys business and run around collecting tokens and gold and stuff from the chests scattered throughout the zone. Theres some maps by Tori for each fest zone (theres a different one for each fest) in the forums and some bosses too so check those out :)

For the upcoming Spring Fest, theres a little thing called the Egg Hunt. Which is just looking for eggs while wandering a maze. You have limited moves but the only pets youll find there are themeds if I remember right. So make sure you bring some traps. Be wise with your moves and you'll earn plenty-I remember I grinded that thing as much as possible.

Themes are also great during fests, since they do sell..sometimes, anyways. Collectors love em, thats for sure. And project makers go nuts. So make use of your fest supplies if you dont sell them for a pretty penny and you can earn that way too. I reckon it comes out about even most of the time, since battling is free.

Selling things on the broker, like avi items, pets, and supplies (as well as tokens you dont need-remember tokens that are used cant be unused and disappear forever without payout if you dont spend them in the fest shop!) is a great way to earn gold fast. Just price right and youll gain. I sure did..Just remember that hoarding stuff wont gain you anything anymore, tokens and supplies only disappear now :(

What not to spend your precious gold and diamonds on? Id say pretty much everything. Dont spend it on haunted houses (fall fest) or winter wonderlands (winter fest) or lucky scratchcards (fortune fest) and definitely not on fest supplies...unless youre swimming in gold and you dont mind wasting a lot :)

And now Lark shall tell you about some festival events you might encounter.

So during most of the major festivals, there are other things you can do besides grinding the fest zone. (Although, admittedly, most of them are related in some way to grinding the fest zone.) First up, we have the Leaderboard Contests (also referred to as boards)! There are usually three rounds of these, each 4 days long. Each round has two different sections: the Pets Nurtured Contest and the Enemies Defeated Contest. And for each of these, there are separate leaderboards for every Sylesti species.
For the Pets Nurtured contests, you score points by nurturing pets of that species. Youre going to want to go through Advanced Search (which we will probably cover how to use in the near future), select the species youre aiming to nurture, and go through nurturing all of them.
To score points in the Enemies Defeated contests, you have to battle enemies with at least one pet in your party of the chosen species. Ideally, if you want to aim to win these contests, you should have all the pets in your party of that species, because you get three times the amount of points.
When the contest round is over, the top four people in each contest and species will get a pet! The 1st place will receive a 3-visible themed pet of that species (shown at the top of the leaderboard page) and the next 3 will receive the same pet, but only with 2 visible traits. Even if you dont win, you can still earn a Contest Reward Pouch for every 1,000 points scored, which contain various nice festival prizes.
If you place in the top 25, you also get Leaderboard Reward Pouches. ~Orca

Next up we have the Sylesti Ice Sculpting/Brewing/Growing/Sand Sculpting (depending on the Festival, so Ill let Orca talk about that.

Ah, the one event that I usually ignore...mostly because Im not a themed pet collector. (Though admittedly during the last Summer Fest I got into it, but only because my favorite themed was coming through :) )

Anyways, the Make-Your-Own-Themed-Sylesti thing is in every major fest. You get 3 free slots to start with and you pay 5k gold to fill a slot with the required.whatever. Fertilizer? Material? Eh, doesnt matter. You still pay 5k gold. Then you go into the festival zone and do some grinding. The bosses drop most of the stuff, which includes supplies to customize the pet youll soon start making, stuff to actually make the pet and keep it in pristine condition, and the most important part: catalysts. Or essences. It depends on the fest but its all the same, really.

There are many themed pets you can make, usually about 24 different ones, one for each species. You can also make retired pets from the previous fest, a reason I was going nuts trying to grow the Breaching Orca qitari last year-once the fest is over, those retired pets cant be made anymore.

Nowadays, if you start making your themed pet near the final fest end, when everything closes, you need to make sure those green (or yellow) bars that tell how much longer until your pet is ready fill up to 100% or else youll lose all your hard work. So remember to do that!

I wont go into details and completely get you confused about the themed pet-making activity since that gets covered in the Festival Overview, but heres a tip: If you dont need your boxes or supplies, you can sell your supplies and rent out your boxes to players who need more boxes. Usually you get a small royalty fee from the other player for doing so and its a nice little thing to do :)

And finally, we have the grid minigame. The name changes from fest to fest, so Ill just refer to it as the grid minigame.
You have a grid on top of a lovely picture, and when you buy an entry (using fest tokens, gold, or diamonds), you get a few tools. These one-time use tools can be used to dig anywhere on the grid, to get lovely prizes. However, there are also obstacles on the grid that require using a tool on them to remove them before you can actually dig underneath them. However, these obstacle squares tend to hide more valuable prizes so its your choice what you wish to use your precious tools on!
But theres more: there are multiple stages to each grid minigame. The only way to progress is to dig up the key (or its equivalent) to move on. The higher the stage, the more possible valuable prizes. Unfortunately, the amount of tools you get at the beginning of the stage also decreases the higher you go.
Summer Fest has a grid minigame, but its a bit different. There arent any levels or obstacles, just one stage, and you have to get or buy tools the way you would other fest materials. But youll see that for yourself once Summer Fest comes along ;)

Now, theres a lot more we didnt go into, but honestly, fests are such a big part of Sylestia that itd take a whole book to talk about them, the lingo, etc. Heck, this articles probably already bored you to death.

(Wait, are you guys still even reading??? Ah well :P)

Anyways, in summary, dont use gold on these things if you can, dont hoard stuff, and have fun! And feel free to send Lark and I questions.
We love it when you guys do that. - Lark Until next time, ~Orca ><>

Sylestia Wiki
Written by Limor, Edited by Limor

In this times free article we will be discussing the Sylestia Wiki! The Sylestia Wiki (although a bit outdated) is still a gold mine of information. The wiki (as all wikis are) has pages dedicated to events, avatars, themes, species, and other basic needed information.

The wiki still under construction and being updated (the most recent updated at the time of this posting being only a few days ago) and the Sylestia Page about it is found here.

With the wiki it can be an informative source of information to send to your friends and family who are thinking of perhaps joining the site, but aren't sure yet what all the hype is for. Not only that but you newer players might find it helpful to pop onto the site and read up on somethings you might be confused about!

If you would like to go to the wiki just click here

Overall the times would like to give a big thanks to the creators of the Sylestia Wiki, and may you all keep on working and updating the wiki for us all to enjoy!

Hey all! Its me, the definitely not random Orca! And today, im pinning the spotlight on newbie Stryker666! Heres the interview I did with them!

Warning: As many of you know, I have terribly bad spelling on my phone. This interview is an exact copy, except that I edited question 3 to make a little more sense and save space :P My sincerest apologies to Stryker666 for the inconvenience.

1. How did you find Syletia?
I found SYLESTIA because I searched up "virtual pet games" and it came up.
2. What interested you most when you first joined
THE NIXIS YES YES YES they are the best!
E. How has your experience been so far on sylestia?
My experience has been great, everyone's so NICE!!! I really love and appreciate that.
4. Do you plan to stay on with Dulestia?
I plan to stay on Sylestia but not Dulestia. :) (Note from Orca: I accidently wrote Dulestia instead of Sylestia during the interview)
5. Anything else?
You wrote Syletia instead of Sylestia, you forgot the question mark at the end of #2, #3 was an E instead of a three and the question was weird. On #4 you wrote Dulestia instead of Sylestia, and on #5 you spelled "anything" as "anyhing".

*ahem* Thank you, Stryker666, for putting up with me and my phones inability to spellcheck anything XD That's it for the Newbie Spotlight, until next time! ~Orca ><>
