This guide gives a good overview on ways to make money:
https://www.sylestia.com/forums/?thread=2280&page=1
Missions are the main way to have a constant stream of money. Plus the potions/elixirs and equipment you get from them is great at lower levels.
I would highly recommend browsing the player guide section of the forums. There is a lot of good information there.
Hope that helps

Here's a really good guide to earning gold that I recommend: https://www.sylestia.com/forums/?thread=2280
All in all, probably the best way to earn money is to send your pets on missions. If you've unlocked Esior's Haven, you can go to the barracks and send pets on these missions. Basically, every mission is looking for a pet with a certain minimal level and a specified stat (Health, Strength, Agility, etc). If the pet you send succeeds, you can get one or two satchels with money/items in it, and your pet gains exp and a base amount of money. As you play, I recommend getting at least 2 pets for every stat, since the Sanctuary of Saerielle also has missions. If you know you're going offline for a while, you can also send some of your party pets on one of the easier missions, which will get it a little bit of XP, but the best way to level up your pets is just to continue the story and grind some levels when you're having trouble passing a stage.

For the gold, this guide should explain all the way in depth, the best/quickest way to train would be by defeating ennemy in the last zone you found yourself into keep in mind that there is a lock on how mutch exp you earn from batteling past the zone level in most of the maps, a way to bypass that exp lock would be by training in a festival zone but none of those are avalable at the moment.
You could also use items to boost your experience gain (Exp orb and philters of expedian learning) but those are expencive and a bit unncessary at level 18, it would be very difficult to obtain the gold to buy those items and not overly worth the time put into collecting it. However, if you get your hands on a philter of expedian learning, keep it around to use in the festival zone. ^-^

I know, I've said this before, but nurturing and selling pet dyes is probably the fastest way to earn up to 50k in ten minutes...
Under 15 minutes of nurturing can get you enough scales (1000) to buy a Lesser Pet Dye, which generally go for 30-50k. There isn't a limit on how many you can buy either, so you can do that as much as you need.
Of course, that dye will be bought up quite soon, perhaps within a day if you price it at 30k, which will then go towards mission pets, which is the long-term income. (Level 70s can be purchased for 4-5k, and with their levels and three proficiency points in one stat, they're more than enough to do legendary missions without any equipment. It will take some time to build up enough reputation to get the legendary missions, but 800 gold an hour isn't too bad at first.)

Hey. I do a lot of exploring on this game and thought maybe I could help you out. I have a bit of anxiety while posting so sorry if I'm not helping or get annoying. But... yeah. I use these things to get gold all the time, and I've gotten about 300,000 gold in one day before. They vury helpful.
Missions are a great way to get experience and gold, but I wouldn't recommend using your main pet/pets for them. Harder missions mean your pets take longer for them and you need your best pets for leveling up, so other pets are extremely helpful for missions.
Exploring allows you to find items, which you could use for your pets, but you can also sell them. The sell area is easier for items you can equip, but items like experience orbs (items that don't have any value if you put them in the sell area) are better to put on the trade broker.
There are attacks/invasions, about 8 happen each day. Some of them are during the night or early in the morning but they're a great way to get experience and gold. Especially if you get into the top five contributors group. These will happen in one of four places, two of which shouldn't be available to anyone too low of a level. They'll be in Esior's Haven, Sanctuary of Saerielle, Fungus Grove, or Faerina's Shrine.
Quests are a good way to get gold and force you to do more exploring. Once you get to Umbra Forest, which is after Viridian Meadows for players who haven't got there yet, you can do daily quests. The amount of gold you get after completing the quest depends on the level of the quest. Quests are no longer available after Umbra Forest.
Lastly, there are dungeons. Again, these are not available to players with too low of a level. I actually wouldn't even recommend doing the first one until you're level 50 or higher, even though you can try it before that point. Dungeons are evil things that say they're one level but are really many levels higher. It's pretty frustrating.
Hope I was able to help. If anyone has questions... I guess I can answer them... but I don't know everything about the game yet. Like the mystery of why I can only find two pets level 75 or higher in the advanced search.
