Dungeons

Dungeons can be done once a day, resetting at rollover.
If you leave off on doing a dungeon in the middle of it and come back on another day, it will have kept your place. You can choose to either continue from there or reset the dungeon (you do not get two goes in one day if you do not reset it, it counts as your run for the day)

Puzzles and Bosses?

In both dungeons there are several puzzles and bosses. In order to access most of the 'minor' bosses, you have to complete a puzzle.

Why do Dungeons?

Dungeon Bosses are the only way to get the lv25 and lv50 Mythical equips, as well as the Forsaken Guardian Ny'vene.
The Ny'vene will be a 2v Exclusive.

Q&A
(will be updated with clarifications if questions are asked)

Are the boss pets (eg, Juggernaut, Sapphire) catchable?
No. These are Named Pet NPCs. You can tell them apart from Themed pets (findable in the Lost Grove and Festival Zones) by their star colour- all Named npcs have White stars, regardless of TP count.

Nightfall Bandit Dungeon

Enemies

Random enemies in this dungeon are Level 29. Pets can be Common, Uncommon, or Rare rarity

Mobs will consist of:
Nightfall bandits, Nightfall bandit Overseer
Aurleon, Bulbori, Draeyl, Luffox, Qitari, Sylvorpa, Vulnyx, Zolnixi

Puzzles

Number Puzzle

Three times in the dungeon- once before you reach the Runes door, once between the Runes Door and the Slider Puzzle, and once after the Slider Puzzle and before you reach the Number Puzzle's Door, you will have an interlude screen where Jinxie pops up and the text describes a scene involving an amount of something, such as carvings in the wall or empty treasure chests.

Make sure to read the text and note down the number so you don't forget- what it was a number of it doesn't matter, only the number itself.

Once you've progressed past the Runes Door and the Slider Puzzle Door, you will come to a Door that asks you to enter three numbers. Input the numbers in the order you got them.

The numbers are random for every iteration of the Dungeon, so the ones you get one day will be different from what other people will get that day, and will be different from the day before and the next day.

Example of the presentation of numbers from the Number Puzzle:

The number in this example is 8

This one is 6

Runes Door

Eventually you will run into a door with a bunch of Runes on. The runes are Warm, Cool, Air, Wet, and Shock.

These runes relate to the current weather in Sylestia, but are not quite so intuitive/straight-forward as one might expect.

The Weathers in Sylestia are Clear, Cloudy, Windy, Stormy, Rainy, and Snowy, which you might note is SIX kinds of weather, when there are only five runes.
The Runes match up to the weathers as such:

Warm = Clear
Cool = Cloudy
Air = Windy
Wet = Rainy and Snowy
Shock = Stormy

(no, I really couldn't tell you why there are only five runes, or why Cool = Cloudy and not Snowy. Wet is just Precipitation and Cool's 'cloudy' contrasts Warm's 'clear' or something?)

If you get the wrong rune, it will do something like shoot water at you or shock you and the door will stay locked.
Getting it right will unlock the door and allow you to immediately fight one of a pool of enemies as a elite enemy (4 star) boss
The boss will be lv30 4-star elite and could be either a Named sylesti or Named Nightfall bandit

Slider Puzzle Door

After a while you will encounter a door with a 3x3 sliding puzzle with an image of one of the six starter species (it is randomly picked and randomly shuffled every time you do the dungeon.)
As with the Number puzzle, the setup you get is random.

You only have a certain number of moves you can make before you fail the puzzle.

Since the puzzle is random, I would suggest looking up guides or the like to help you work out how to solve them if you're unsure (I used to use an internet page that showed me what moves to make, but by doing that I have over time become more and more able to see what to do to solve them without doing that, to the point that I only need to resort to doing that for maybe 3 moves total out of 20 entire puzzles)
solving this puzzle will unlock the door and grant immediate access to a boss
The boss will be a lv30 5-star and either a Named sylesti or Named Nightfall bandit

Examples of Slider Puzzle:

Number Puzzle Door

Once you reach the Number Puzzle Door, if you input the correct three numbers you will immediately enter a battle with a lv25 4-star elite and a lv30 5-star boss, drawn from the same pool of enemies as the two previous boss encounters.

Final Boss

The final boss of the NBD is Lord Talon, who is a lv34, 5-star boss. He has 17.6k HP
He will be accompanied by the draeyl Ember and the aurleon Sapphire (both lv30, 4-star). Ember has 12k HP, Sapphire has 10.4k HP

Lord Talon is Strength oriented, Ember is Int/Dex, Sapphire is Int/Agi.

Upon beating Lord Talon and his pets, you will get to pick between four chests- Dusty, Shiny, Sparkling, or Glowing.
As far as I can tell there is literally zero difference between them, what they give is entirely random and might be a small amount of a healing item (typically 2-4), a few hundred to a few thousand Gold, a random lv25 equip, or a random eggling (nothing special about it).
There is also the very low chance that you might get an Essence, but don't hold your breath on that one.

Dungeon of the Forsaken

Note that in the DotF, boss fights will not appear immediately after their puzzle is solved, but rather after several more battles.
Additionally, Mobs can be wave battles with 4-6 enemies, rather than just being 1-3 enemies.

Enemies

Random enemies in this dungeon are Level 60. Pets can be Common, Uncommon, Rare, or Epic rarity

Mobs will consist of
Risen Soldier, Undead Knight, Decayed Archer
Myconid: Adept, Augur, Champion, Reaver, Seer, Shroom, Sprout, Warrior
Vorkid: Drone, Lurker, Pouncer, Shadowfiend, Shifter, Venomspitter, Webspinner
Aurleon, Draeyl, Faelora, Lupora, Morkko, Nytekrie, Qitari, Sylvorpa, Vulnyx, Zolnixi

Puzzles

Sealed Door Puzzle

The first puzzle of the DotF is the Sealed Door Puzzle, which has four different variants of text. Depending on the text, you need a different stat to open it

1: "As you try to open the door, you find that it simply won't budge. After numeous attempts, you can't get it to open."
Select a pet with high Strength

2: "You study the door for a few moments, but can't figure out how to open it. You check one last time, but still don't see how to open the door."
Select a pet with high Intelligence

3: "You try to twist the knob, but the door seems to be locked. You jiggle the handle, but to no avail."
Select a pet with high Dexterity

4: "You inspect the door and notice there is no mechanism for opening the door. However, you see a suspicious looking switch above the door that is out of reach."
Select a pet with high Agility

Example of Dex door:

The boss, when you find them, will be one of the following sets:
Vaelana the Huntress, Ironfang the vulnyx, Swyft the vulnyx
Ralios the Resilient, Juggernaut the morkko, Defiance the qitari
Morakei the Wicked, Wrath the aurleon, Pestilence the aurleon

All are lv60, with the Nightfall member being 5-star and the two sylesti being 4-star)

Shield and Orb Door

(I'll tidy this one up later)

You click a button and that row/column moves one towards the button you clicked, and the other two move one in the opposite direction
so (O = orb, X = swords, S = shield, <^v> = directions, @ = button pushed,
- = space filler (ignore these))

OOX
OSS @
SOS

Means it'll move

< OOX
---OSS >
< SOS

and become
OXO
SOS
OSS

if you hit the one on the other side of that original one
----OOX
@ OSS
----SOS

it'd move
---OOX >
< OSS
---SOS >

and become
XOO
SSO
SSO

Basically what you want to try to do it get it into a setup where you can easily work out what to hit to solve it, so

OOO
OSS
XSS

is a good setup to achieve because you just

< OOO
---OSS
---XSS

and then
---^
OOO
SOS
SXS

to get

SOS
OXO
SOS

so you just try to learn to recognise patterns that can get you there.

Example:

The boss for this puzzle, when you reach them, will be a wave battle of 38 enemies, either against Myconids or Vorkids, culminating in either the Myconid King or the Vorkid Queen.

As this is an extensive wave battle, it may be a good idea for newer players to remove any fire attackers from their party, as they may want to bottleneck the stronger enemies so as not to have to face two or three 3-4 star enemies at once.
For more experienced players using high-leveled and/or ranked teams, this should not be an issue.

Dark Elves

There is no puzzle associated with this boss.
You will fight three randomly selected Dark Elves in any arrangement (it could be three of the same type, three different types, two of one type/one of another.

All of them will be lv60 and 5-star

They will be any combination of: Sorcerer, Priestess, Assassin, Warlord

Final Boss

Prepare for the dreaded fight against the two-stage boss, Vierna.
As a word of advice do not bring a fire pet into this fight.
This is regardless of player skill level, as a fire pet will not be able to shine in a battle where you specifically do not want splash-damage attacks.
(if you have a fire pet in the party when you run into Vierna, you can still change the team any time before you hit the button to actually enter the battle)

Stage 1, Vierna Da'Sheer, Risen Soldiers.

Vierna starts with 40kHP, str200, int800, dex500, agi300

Aim to take out Vierna ASAP, do not aim for the Risen Soldiers at all.
Use Elixirs to get your mana up to use stronger attacks as soon as you can.
Vierna will place a Soul Drain debuff on the Risen Undead, which will damage them. When one is KO'd (by any means) Vierna will gain 50 int.

Once Vierna is KO'd she will change to...

Stage 2, Shade of Vierna

40kHP, str200, int800+(50 x # of Risen Undead KO'd), dex400, agi400

Who, if you're new at this, is an absolute pain in the rear with an ability called "Mana transfusion" which is used once every few turns and will heal Vierna using your pet's mana.
You can find a more indepth guide to DotF that goes into SoV strategy here

Defeating Vierna in a low number of moves (under 25?) gives the chance that she will drop Forsaken Guardian theme Ny'vene or Ancient Relics

After the fight is over you will progress another screen and get a random prize. As with NBD, this is random and usually not worth much, usually being 2-4 healing items, a random piece of equipment, a few thousand gold, or a random eggling (which is random, not an FG vene, which is specifically a Vierna drop). Again, there is the very low chance that it will be an essence.

Random non-battle encounters

The Merchant

A fellow who offers to sell the player a treasure box. 3000g for a lv25 one in Nightfall, g for a lv in DotF
While the treasure inside can potentially be an essence (regular or enhanced) the chances of it are minuscule, and the likelihood is that you'll get less gold than you payed for the box or a piece of uncommon equipment

The Healer

A fairy who is mostly just here to scam you out of your gold. It is very easy to accidentally click the "yes" button. She heals both HP and Mana completely, and will take gold even if she only filled 10 mana on one pet.

Egglings and Hatchlings

On rare occasions, the screens that inform you that there is "Something Mysterious ahead, would you like to inspect it?" can result in finding a random eggling or hatchling. These pets are completely random colour-wise and tend to have 0-2 TP.

Chests and Boxes

These can either have a minor reward or cause minor damage to one of your pets at random.

Lost Grove Temple

The Lost Grove Temple is the third and final section of the Lost Grove, and acts as its Dungeon. It is accessible after completing stage 12 of Lost Grove Progression, defeating the Ancient Crystalline Behemoth (also known colloquially as the Woerm and Kermit the Wormit).
The Temple can be reset once a week, starting from the Sunday-Monday rollover, rather than once a day like the other two dungeons.

There are five floors. In order of access, they are First Floor North, First Floor South, Second Floor North, Second Floor South, and Ancient Crypt (Henceforth to be referred to as N1, S1, N2, S2, C).
A player starts with access to N1, and gains access to each subsequent floor only after beating the Floor Boss of the prior floor for the first time.

When you enter a Floor for the first time each reset, it will generate a new iteration of that Floor. This means that all floorplans are randomly generated each time the Temple is reset.

Enemies

Random enemies in this dungeon will vary in level depending on which floor a player is on.
N1; lv75
S1; lv78
N2; lv80
S2; lv80
C; lv85

There are four Nameds that can be selected from that appear across all floors, and one Floor Boss per floor who are each unique to their floor
The Named bosses are Earthbender, Voidmancer, Pyromancer, and Ancient Temple Guardian.

N1
There are two Named bosses present on this floor. Ancient Temple Guardian cannot appear on this floor.
