Everyone has heard of elves, ageless forest loving folk. The elves seem alike in this manner. Dwarves a mountain loving folk. And other various races. However not all elves love the forest best, and not all dwarves are bound to the Earth, not all fairies dwell in meadow flowers, there are those whose hearts belong to the sea.

Its a land called Endar. When young mythical come of age thier powers align with one of the talents of thier race. Usually this time is one of celebration by the race of the individual, but the hearts of some do not dwell in the same place as the rest of thier race. Some of these young ones go through with the ceremony, others run away following the call of thier hearts. Such a thing is frowned upon by the leaders of the races. Some more than others. Some merely shun the rebels as outcasts...others arrest them. Are you a rebel, a traditionalist, or are you a young one deciding your path. Some say the call of the sea is a powerful, mysterious and relentless one, can you hear it? Or do you hear the calls of your ancestors, but maybe they once heard the oceans call too hmmm?

Races and race abilities/talents

Elves: animal taming, plant kinisis, Wind summoning, hunting, tracking, and healing.

Dwarves: mining, blacksmithing, tracking, earth kinisis, stone farming, and gem cutting

Fairies: healing, flower gardening, magical weaving, insect control, and weather sensing.

Siren and mermaids: water kinisis, control of sea creatures, singing hypnotism, fishing and navigation.

Gnomes: tracking, farming, cooking, leatherworking, animal taming

Pheonixs: weather sensing, healing, fireworks, wind summoning.

Giants: can learn various skills mostly known for thier magical resistance though.

Dragons: any of the various elements, typically have little to do with the schooling system of Eldar.

Humans: While most don't have magic they can learn any skill they please. Some mythical look down on them, others envy them.

Evil races: goblins, orcs, ogres, trolls, wyverns, cyclops, lycanthropes, wraiths, and imps.

Mythical animals: basilisk, jackalopes, unicorns, pegasi, fire salamanders, thylocenes, perytons, yeti, sea serpents, kraken, leviathans, hydra, and other various normal animals.

Appearance: Black hair kept in a sailors ponytail and blue eyes that shift colors like the sea. Tanned skin. Unlike land elves male sea elves grow facial hair. Has a neatly trimmed black beard. Athletic muscular build. Wears a white shirt with a blue tunic, black pants and sea boots. A black belt with a cutlass and scabbard. Wears a red bandanna and black pirates hat to hide his pointed ears.

Personality: Strong, brave and kind. He is a little mischievous and playful. He is a loyal friend and fierce enemy. He loves music and singing sea shanties. He has a fine rich baritone voice. He can be very stubborn.

Talents or powers: Since he aligned his powers with the sea he has some water kinisis and he can speak to sea creatures and even change his form into an otter. He is highly skilled with a sword. He is a good navigator and good judge of weather, (the last three were learned from experiance)

Backstory: He was the son of an Elf lord. Everyone expected him to follow his fathers footsteps. At school he heard descriptions of the sea from mermaids and sirens, and sailing tales from human sailors. The first time he saw the sea it captured his heart. With no desire to stay on land he ran away the night before his ceremony and stowed away on a ship. Being on the sea the night he came of age his powers aligned with the ocean. He passed himself off as a human cabin boy. Over time he rose in the ranks until he captained his own ship. He now helps others like himself. They attack enemy ships and search for hidden treasure. Due to potential hostility from traditionalists they do most of thier trading in human or pirate ports.

Name: Ascelin Elain

Race: Elf- his mother was allegedly a siren, but he dismisses this as 'rumors and hearsay'.

Gender: Male

Age: About 17 by elf standards, soon to come of age.

Appearance:

Ascelin doesn't look like most elves, but everyone assumes this to be a strange birth defect. His hair, which is usually kept in a neat braid, is pale- nearly white- with a slight bluish tint, and his eyes are a piercing shade of blue grey. His skin is slightly tanned, with a slight shimmer to it when the sun hits him just right. His face is permanently fixed into a fierce scowl, or at best a stormy 'go-away-and-let-me-brood' expression. His ears are pointed with a slight scalloped shape near the edges. I'll draw him when I get the chance :)

Personality: Ascelin is capricious and bad-tempered, but his aggressive visage covers the insecurity at his core. He strives to impress above all- to impress his father, a lesser noble, to impress his mentors and teachers, who disapprove of him, to impress EVERYONE. To rise above his peers and take the world by storm. He refuses to believe that he's heard the call of the sea, a call that could distract him from his honest, hardworking life.

Talents or powers: Ascelin is training hard in hopes of unearthing his powers, but as of so far he is remarkably unskilled in traditional 'elf' talents. He works harder than anyone else, but his luck is apparently quite bad in this regard. He is an accomplished swordsman, however- and people say he has an absolutely exceptional voice, an enchanting one almost. Because of this, he completely refuses to sing and sometimes even to speak!

Backstory: Ascelin's father was a lesser elf noble, perpetually unhappy and- in the eyes of his son- disappointed. The boy sought to bring light back to his father's life, to rise to the top and make him happy again. Little did Ascelin know.... the reason his father was unhappy was because the boy reminded him of his mother. Ascelin has worked hard to rise above his peers, to be the best, the smartest, the brightest. But the ocean calls him, and its voice is only getting stronger as the boy ages.

Nice Character. Don't worry too much about the drawing take your time. I would draw mine, but I'm pretty hopeless at drawing. Lol its ironic I can paint, but I can't draw.

Lol my spellchecker has given me some odd words too at times. You should see some of them. I can't count how many times I had to edit my posts to fix errors from my spell check. (And the dumb thing is supposed to help our spelling. Does not always do such a good job Lol.)
