Im not 100% sure how to help you here but:
Both need to be adults in order to breed.
Both need to be of the same species.
One needs to be male, the other female.
And they cant be too closely related or the game wont allow you to breed them, do to inbreeding.
Other than that, you should be fine.

another reason is if pets have been made infertile by previous owners (typically only the case for project pets)
(also, it is true that pets cannot breed with their parents/children/half-siblings, but do not get this confused with the Inbreeding Percentage seen on a pet's lineage page- the inbreeding percentage has no actual effects on pets and is there as an interest point)
Most likely, one or both of the pets you are trying to breed with aren't Adults.
You can check what stage of life a pet is in by the bit in their profile that says "Maturity" (under "Age" and above "Profile views")
In non-genetested pets, it will just have a simple "Eggling/Hatchling/Adolescent/Adult", but in genetested and generated pets it will include their exact maturity (up to "(648/648)", which is when they hit adulthood)
for example, your Sofie is, as of me typing this, is "Maturity: Adolescent (339/648)"- that is, she's got 309 hours (just under 13 days) left until she's an adult
(all Generated pets- including starters- start life at the beginning of adolescence (216/648). Wild caught pets are anywhere between there and (648/648))
