So I've been sitting on a pair of regular Lupora essences for a while, trying to think of something to use them for, and it finally hit me today. Arcanine is my favorite pokemon, so I wanted to try to make an Arcanine pair. But I've never done a breeding project before, so I'm not entirely sure how they work. They'd be pretty simple, and I came up with this two-vis:

...but the hyena markings put that black stripe along the mane. The only way I could think of fixing it would be to add tipped mane, but then I'd be overstepping my regular essences, and even then it'd only be covering it up a little bit.

So does anyone have any advice on how to go about these? And is there any interest in babies from them? Sorry if I'm wrong about some stuff, like I said, I've never done a breeding project before.

In my opinion, it'd probably be be better to just go with the carried doberman and hyena markings, unless you can get your hands on two enhanced essences. Regardless of what you can and can't do though, with either option there's going to be that slight defect in color from the original Arcanine.

If you are by chance able to get two enhanced essences for the project, then my advice would be this: Choose the two most important traits for the project, and when you generate your pair give the male one of those traits as a visible, and the female the other one of those traits as a visible, and let them carry the other traits. That way the offspring have a much higher chance of showing the important traits than if both parents had only carries.

That's the way I've set my three-vis pairs at least. Male has visible trait 1, carries 2 and 3. Female has visible trait 2, carries 1 and 3.

And there is another way to get an eventual three-vis off of four regular essences, but it takes time and luck to wait for the proper outcome of genetics and genders. I'll set it up in a simple format: M = generated male, F = generated female, and the number after denotes the pair. O = offspring, and the number denotes which pair the offspring is born from. Lowercase traits are carries, and CAPSLOCK traits are visible.

M1 = hyena markings, doberman markings
F1 = doberman markings, tipped mane.

M2 = hyena markings, tipped mane
F2 = hyena markings, doberman markings

O1 = hyena markings, DOBERMAN MARKINGS, tipped mane [also doable with all carries]
O2= HYENA MARKINGS, doberman markings, tipped mane. [also doable with all carries]

Possible Final Result of the two offspring:
HYENA MARKINGS, DOBERMAN MARKINGS, TIPPED MANE

The best part of this option is that you can keep on making offspring pairs off of the initial generated pair, which will give you more offspring pairs to make attempts on the final result. Just be sure to keep your pets in order if you go with this option - related pets don't breed. I advise this option if you are patient, or if you simply can't afford the enhanced essences and are desperate enough to BE patient.

I actually have a five-vis project that I've set up in a similar way. Ironically, it's also a Lupora project, and I happen to be using Hyena Markings, Doberman Markings, and Tipped Mane for the genes. The other two visible traits for the final product are Flaming Hellhound Armor and Flaming Hellhound Skull. For that project though, it's taken me 8 lupora essences to get fully set up, and it's a long wait for the generated pairs to grow up.. and then I'll be waiting for their offspring to grow up... and then their offspring's offspring... and then hopefully those will get me my Death's Warhounds.

Oh, and always keep in mind that carried traits don't always carry on to the offspring, but if a parent has a VISIBLE trait the offspring will always carry. And two carries [or even one vis matched with a carry] don't guarantee a visible trait. The only 100% guarantee for a visible trait in an offspring is if BOTH parents have a visible trait in the gene or mutation slot.

I hope this long ramble helps! And if you have any questions don't be afraid to ping me!

Wow :O Thanks so much for the explanation! I'm gonna have to think about how patient I want to be for this one XD

Good luck with your Luporas! The end result looks really cool!
