Hi!
I don't mean to be rude but why does the summer fest still have manual sculpture progression? I swear I read last year that that was going to be changed? None of the other fests have it, and the only way to progress is to either constantly nurture your own sculptures or have lots of friends who have excess agents and are willing to boop them. Last year it caused a huge shortage of sculpting agents, and no one nurtured anyone else's sculptures and people were panicking because they didn't even have enough agents to complete their own.
I know the goal is to have each seasonal festival to have some differences from each other, but there are differences besides the sculpting system. Spring has the egg maze and community garden, summer has the beach digging thing, fall has trick-or-treat, winter has the stocking stuffer thing and Snow Wars. I just don't get why Summer has to have manual progression? Am I missing something?

It is just the design decision for how to do the sand sculpting feature. Since it operates differently, everything is adjusted for it. Each sculpture requires significantly less inputs to finish than it would if it were Spring/Fall/Winter. Additionally, drop rates for enrichments are adjusted accordingly.
It isn't something that can easily be toggled on/off. A ton of things would have to be adjusted and changed in order to accommodate that feature change. And we've just stuck with the original concept for the feature where they do not progress slowly over time.
It may change at some point or may be entirely re-created. But whichever, it'd be a considerable amount of time to overhaul the entire festival accordingly.
