So, I have a maybe silly question. When I check my starter sylesti's genetics, it appears like this :
Gene One: (NT) Water Sprite
Gene Two: (NN) None
Gene Three: (ND) Iridescence
Mutation One: (NN) None
Mutation Two: (NE) Fairy Wings
Mutation Three: (NG) Seaweed Whirlwind
I created this account a couple months ago & started playing properly just yesterday, so I'm a little confused on why they're written in green? I surfed the forums and I found that they're called carried traits? Not quite sure if that's true, but if they are carried traits, will they always be 'invisible' or will they show up in her offspring with some rare chance?
Thank you in advance to anyone who answers! <3 |
Sylestia uses punnett square genetics, and trait dominance goes N (nothing) >A>B>C>etc down the alphabet
So for each trait, each pet has the first letter (the Dominant letter, which is what visible traits are) and the second letter (the Recessive letter)
So with your starter, take G1, (NT) Water Sprite; N is the letter for Nothing, so no visible, T is the letter assigned to g1 water sprite, so it's carried 'under' the nothing/no vis
On Tested and Generated pets, you can see Carried and Hidden traits- on untested pets you can only see the Visible ones listed (Carried; green text, trait is in a no-vis slot/ dominant letter is N(nothing). Hidden; purple text, same as a Carried trait, but in a slot with a visible trait rather than nothing)
(in the case of hiddens, with untested pets all vis traits show as regular blue single-trait vis but the hidden trait is still there, just like how you can't see if there's a carry and those trait slots just show NN until the pet is tested)
When breeding, each pet passes down one of the two letters it has for each trait slot, with an exact 50/50 chance of passing down either one
So, some examples. If you bred her with (using only one trait slot, but it works the same for each one)
> a pet that had G1 NN, offspring would be 50/50 NN or NT
> a pet that was also g1 NT, offspring would be 25% NN, 50% NT (carry water sprite), 25% TT (vis water sprite)
> a pet that was NB (carry majestic), offspring would be 25% NN, 25% NB (carry majestic), 25% NT (carry water sprite), 25% BT (vis majestic, hidden water sprite)
> if the other pet was NX (carry amazonian), offspring would be 25% NN, 25% NT (carry water sprite), 25% NX (carry amazonian), 25% TX (vis water sprite, hidden amazonian)
> if the other pet was BB (vis majestic), 50% NB (carry majestic), 50% BT (vis majestic, hidden water sprite)
> if the other pet was BX (vis majestic hidden amazonian), 25% NB, 25% NX, 25% BT, 25% TX
