Unless you were there to knock all the trophies down? Whatever, pick an instrument and I'll find one for you. Violin, viola, cello, bass, " he said in his usual rapid-fire manner.

Goddamit Zen is in a spell class, thats a horrible place to murder someone. I'd be less suprised if the person who got murdered was trying to murder someone in Spells.

I sighed "I was hoping to get out of this." I said picking at my cuticles. "Just...I don't know pick whatevers easiest to learn first."

Jay shrugged. "You'll have to learn something before you can change classes. And there isn't exactly an easiest one, so just pick one."

I was in choir is elementary but we got to choose between the recorder and the bongos xD And we didnt really even play the instruments [it is choir i suppose] just sung awfully.]

I thought about it for a second. I'd seen how much work went into playing the Violin, I'd met all of Zen's family, they all had very nicely toned arms. I'd rather opt for the one that I just straddled between my legs. Even if I got called on more.

Maybe I'd be so awful they'd stop calling on me, or better yet just kick me out for ruining the flow.

"Uhhh I'll go for the...cello?"

Jay didn't say his opinion on whether that was a good choice or not, instead heading into the room, selecting a 3/4 size cello, and handing it to the boy. "Try that out, if it's too big or too small let me know."

He sat down on his chair and resumed observing people's reactions.

Maybe I should have went for the violin. This thing was heavy. I cradled the case awkwardly before realizing it had a handle and using that, I guess I was stuck lugging this around all day.

Or maybe they'd cancel classes on account of the murder? Either way I went to take a seat in the back corner on the floor. I was pretty sure each seat was assigned to somebody and I didn't want someone ******ing at me for sitting in their seat. When in reality I didn't know where I should sit.

So I sat on the floor.

Jay noticed the guy sit on the floor. What the... There was literally an empty chair at the back of the cello section. Whatever, to each their own, as his mother would've said.

Jay shook his head as if to dislodge the thought and decided to settle for eavesdropping on the conductor, who was now talking on the phone while writing things down.

"Which hallway..?"
"Why would... Verity..."

Verity? The only Verity Jay knew was Verity Asteria, whom he had never talked to... Phoenix said they hadn't caught the murderer, so either Verity was the victim, or they had somehow found out that Verity was the murderer.

(Why Verity? Because in every single book I've read where there's someone named Verity, they die. Also, I named my violin Verity because I'm immature.)
