Hi there! Could you explain this whole thing to me a bit better? I asked to be put on the no release list because I cherish my babies and sometimes sell them for cheap hoping that someone else will love them because I simply don't have room sometimes but I'm actually curious about it. I know that it's to help the Sylestia economy and I believe that it does but could you explain the concept to me a bit better? I'm not being rude, just genuinely interested!

Yep, I can explain it a bit!

So the economy of Sylestia has been in a bit of a downfall, even before I started (which was only a year ago, to be fair, but eh) and most of this is because people are underpricing pets. What we do is buy all/most pets that have a price range of 1-100g and maybe sometimes higher. What this does is clears out all the really cheap pets so others may price them higher.

Here's an example:

Around 2-3 months ago, my Spectral Ny'vene Female was worth, at least, 450k. Now, however, I'm lucky if I can get 50k for it.

Another example:

Again, around 2-3 months ago, Grin Rose were selling around 750k to 1 million gold - which is quite a lot of gold. Now, thanks to breeders who mass-produced these, I can only get around 35-50k for a full-vis female.

This was because people wanted their pets to be sold really fast, so they priced it way under the previous. Pets went from 600k to 550k to 500k to 450k ect. Now, breeders have no chance of earning anything from these pets - and remember, the ones in the examples were fabled, so you can only breed them once a week.

So pricing pets low makes others price pets lower, decreasing the value of these pets drastically. Buying and releasing essentially raises the price bar - even if it is only for a few days.

The thing I don't understand about it is when people price them low and say 'they are for new players'. It makes no sense. Create a thread and set the pets up for the individual players when they ask for it! It hurts the economy otherwise.

So in a nutshell, it raises the price bar and helps people make a steady amount of money.

oh wow, that makes sense! I joined back in 2015 or 2016 and pets used to be WAY more expensive. I like buying the pets cheaper and I won't lie about that BUT it also makes it feel less, idk, rewarding? I've thought about buying the cheaper pets and giving then to new people instead of just listing them cheap but releasing is quicker and doesn't take up any space in your stable. I wouldn't mind buying some pets and releasing them now that I understand the economics behind it!

Thoughts on releasing: Having cheap pets for new players is nice, but a trend that happens almost every time with new players is they buy everything (I have gotten PMs from new players asking for pets when they have two tabs and a hatchery three pages long)
Amount of pets released: 368
