That shouldn't be possible. I just double checked and the Winter Festival Epic Avatar Item chests only pull from a set of items that are of Epic quality.

Are you sure you didn't open a Rare chest?

We have added a second 'Holiday' variation to all species able to be found in the Esior's Fields (Winter Festival) zone.

We have also added an additional named via Suspicious Snowmen.

Cool! I've seen the snowmen but thought they were barriers like the trees until I went up to one to interact with it.
