You see its large tusks, its pointed ears and broad shoulders and realise, too late, that this is an Orc. And evidently not a friendly one - it roars, dropping the torch in the grass and wielding a large hammer. It spins, trying to figure out where you are in the dark. Once its eyes are adjusted to the dark, it's going to see you immediately - an Orc's night vision is incredibly good.

I yell at Skywhisper to distract it while I run around to grab the torch.

What the heck is he doing?! Nicote wonders. He pulls his hio up-its a little cold and hed rather not let his ears freeze off. He goes over to Knight

You run in the general direction that it fled, but the long grass conceals it and you soon lose track of where you thought it was.

"What about the egg?" he cries, sounding torn between helping you and the safety of the hatchling.

The Orc huffs, turning from you to the sound of Skywhisper. It growls, charging in that direction.

You dart up to the torch, burning your hands on the grass around it that has been set alight. The whole of the surrounding grassland could be set on fire at this rate.

The Orc howls a battle cry and there is a thud, as well as a squawk. Agonising heartbeats later you hear the flurry of wings and see Skywhisper swooping down towards you.

Unfortunately, the Orc is in pursuit. It charges at you, roaring, lifting its hammer high over its shoulder. In the nick of time, Skywhisper snags you in his talons and struggles to get off the ground. He manages, but you watch as the Orc's hammer swings just barely under your legs. Any later and they would be broken.

"Never. Ever. Again," Skywhisper wheezes. "Not a chance."

You thud ungracefully to the ground in the shade of a large tree, surrounded by long grass and wildflowers. You're in agony - not enough to be immobile, but enough to seriously hinder your ability to travel elsewhere very well.

Well. After dealing with all of that, you're feeling a lot more able to venture out into the world

I get higher, cursing myself for forgetting about the egg. "Is it alright?"
(Oh gosh I feel so bad)

Knight jumps up when he realises someone's there, growling. When he sees it's you, he stops, a deep look of guilt in his eyes. He looks at the ground, letting out a whine.

You notice that there are various strange objects tucked into his harness that you can't make out in the current light.

You wander around, soon spotting another rabbit. It's oblivious to your presence - for now.
