He seemed slightly annoyed, wanting nothing more than to probe her about the dark energy she had been wrestling with and her visit with the Grand Duke prior.. But he held his tongue.
He knew well enough not to push his luck.
"I would prefer if you did not continue to treat me as some sort of pet, Giselle."

Giselle
"You go and get rid of that demon of yours and I'll consider it." She shrugged, pulling up a chair.

Lowell
"There is more I wish to learn from it. I do not intend on seeking out holy consult until I have had the chance to do so."

Giselle
"Lowe, come on. That's exactly what it wants out of you. You can't trust it. All it takes is one slip and it'll polish off your soul without even a second thought. You know I worry."

Lowell
"As I said, this is not a matter of my own life, but that of this Empire. I won't argue this here."

Seraphina was half-listening to their conversation as she carefully ate her food.

Gallagher, on the other hand, was fully listening. The fact that Lowell refused to get rid of the entity most likely sucking away at his life force was...intriguing.

Giselle just shook her head, rubbing her temples. She didn't understand him at all.
First he comes after her aid, just to drop his interest at the first sign of trouble. Duty or not, it was becoming a real pain in the butt.
"..Lowe, what about your own house? The Alliance? Do you honestly expect Lionel to know how to run anything that doesn't benefit him?"

Lowell
"It is not a matter of what I think, but a matter of what is. As it remains, I am an exile to the Alliance and a blight on society to any other nation." He grumbled at her before standing up and composing himself.
"Your Majesty, I hate to take my leave again so soon, but it would not be proper for me to remain among your court. Since I can assure your life is unharmed for now, I do not want to put it or your favor among the church at any further risk by remaining at your side. It has been an honor to serve you, but I do hope for your sake and Gallagher's that my strength is not needed again for a long time."

She looked up at him and nodded. " If that's what you believe is best, then I have no right to hold you back. "

Giselle
"Where are you even planning on going now, Lowe?
Don't think you're dragging me along to the ends of the world just because you think it's your duty to play hero here."

Lowell
"I will forever remain in her Majesty's debt for her kindness to me. But I do not wish for her kindness to be seen as a fault. I see it as my duty to attempt to return the favor in any means that I can."

Giselle
"Then if that's the case, you're not going to keep backing away with your tail between your legs with the idea you just bring shame and dishonor to whatever you bring your hands into just because of your reputation. Don't forget you're looking after house Alderon too, you oaf. I would have never asked for your hand if I didn't think you were capable of handing it."

She held onto his arm to stop him from leaving, catching a bit of a low growl in response from him. "Your Majesty, I think it's best if we remain, but I know how much he worries about your favor in this country."

" I personally do not mind Lowell staying by my side, because the power of the church can only go so far without defying the will of the Goddess. But if he wishes to leave for my safety and others, then I do not think we should stop him. "

"Thank you, your Majesty, but he'll be fine."
She leaned in to kiss him as he relaxed at the Empress' reaffirmation.
"I told you, Lowe, there might be people out there who look down on you, but you're anything but the filth they think you are. I don't care about them or their opinion."

Lowell
Lowell was caught off guard by this, but made no effort to push her away. He was clearly anxious and embarrassed by the open display of affection and Giselle's boldness in front of the Empress as the kiss broke.
"T-Thank you. I.. will be returning to my quarters in that case." He cleared his throat to compose himself, still red-faced.
"There is another matter I wish to discuss with you, but I believe it can wait until we've all rested more, your Majesty. It has been a long enough day."

Seraphina fought back a laugh at Lowell's clear embarrassment. " Of course. Rest well then, Lowell. "

Lowell
"You as well, Sera- er.. your Majesty." He gave an embarrassed nod to her and Gallagher as Giselle whispered in his ear.

Giselle
"Let's give them some privacy. Goddess knows they'll probably need it." She gave the two a wave and Gallagher a knowing wink as she stepped out of the Empress' quarters.

Lowell
He nodded, slipping out of the room behind Giselle and making his way down to his own.

Gallagher stiffened as she winked at him, swiftly looking away from both of them as they left the bedroom.
