He kept on moving himself so you couldn't properly move him, although he stayed asleep.
I decide to wait some moments to see if Kanui wakes up. If not, I try to gently control his movements and get him off. If not, I just be patient and wait.

You injured the pheasant, but it wasn't dead.
I quickly grab an arrow and fire again. If it doesn't hit I grab an arrow run at it and try to stab it's neck so as to kill it.

You missed with the arrow, the pheasant was immobile and suffering, it failed to get away from you, struggling so it took several stabs to kill it.
