I think that, with all the love and fluff and the lot that goes into such a holiday, there's a chance to remember the pain that love can bring, and the loss far more permanent than a simple break-up.

Their inspiration:

Last year, a few hours before Valentine's Day, I lost my great-grandfather. It was a long time coming and we knew it was going to happen any day, but he's someone who had been in my life since day one, and inspired me to do whatever I wanted. He was a military man; Air Force, if I remember correctly. He was quiet, and loyal, and there was always a glitter in his eyes when he saw any of his great-grandchildren. He would do anything for us, but there was never any doubt on who he loved most. He is represented here in the black of death, the blue of military, and the red of love - all muted, as he believed he went into the next world with his light left behind.

Like my Nana. While she still lives, his loss has hit her harder than she imagined it would. Years of yelling and impatience has turned into massive regret that she'll never be free from the burden of. But to my Papa, Nana was an angel and worth every moment of sorrow and joy. A religious woman, she's represented here in the white of the angel Papa saw her as, and the gray of her age.

Both of them bear light blue on their wings - the instrument to which each was lifted up, in the color of healing.

Together, they created something beautiful.

I said this in another post that I did for this week, but I like carnations more then roses...and since a lot of people have been using pinks and reds, why not use purple carnations instead? :D

My entry is based off of the Swan Princess, a powerful love story in itself. The white and gold represent them as the swan and the prince, where the red wings and stripes represent their unending love for each other. They mix together to make something new and beautiful. May their love never die.

I've never had Valentines' Day before, but I made a guess that the colors I used were Valentines' Day colors.((From watching movies and shows ^^ll)) And I think people either give letters or chocolates to their loved ones on that day, and most letters I see in pictures are pink, with heart and some ribbons sometimes.
