Well, to see the carried traits a pet has, you have to test it. Testing pets can also reveal any hidden traits behind visible traits a pet may have. The pet will still have those carries and hiddens and will be passed on to offspring, you just won't know what they are. I bought an exceptional testing kit from the diamond shop which allows me to test as many pets as i need unlimited. So i decided to test the pets of other players that don't have the testing kit XD because it can be extremely helpful to get your pets tested.

I hope i explained well, otherwise there are lots of people who can explain better. You can post any questions you have in the FAQ section in the forum index and it should be answered quite soon by somebody :)
