The bread ration fills you up enough for your hunger to be set aside.
You sleep fitfully throughout the night, constantly waking with every noise and then stocking up your fire while you're still feeling paranoid about something attacking you. Eventually you're so tired you sleep deeply.
In the morning, your breath clouds before you. Luckily your fire has kept you warm enough through the coldest parts of the night, but the morning air is still chilled and the day will take a while to warm up. You'd better get moving to build up your body heat.
I quickly pack up camp and make sure the fire is out before starting out on the journey again.

The fire was down to smouldering embers, so it isn't hard to stomp on the ashy remains to keep it snuffed out.
There's a small layer of frost clinging to the ground - and you can't help but notice light footprints all over the ground around the remnants of your fire. Without the fire, you can't help but wonder how close the creature would have dared to stray to your tent.
You start off on your journey, the chill morning air stinging the back of your throat. After half an hour or so, a cart drawn by a pair of Hippogrifs approaches you from a distance. What's unusual is the contents of the cart; from what you can see from this distance, it seems to be piled high with cages.
The cart driver slows as he nears, and you easily see that he's a Dwarf. He's the first of his kind you've seen since you started off from Elvenor - that's because the Northern territories are cold and harsh even during Clearsky, so many Dwarves don't try to travel elsewhere until the season of Highsun.
"Mornin' ma'am," he says warmly. He gives a sharp tug on the reins, and the two Hippogrifs stop with a snort. "Not the season to be travellin' without a faithful Familiar by yer side. I happen to be a trapper myself. Don't suppose you wan't to trade for a Familiar do you?"
You look at the cowering Wild creatures that are stacked on top of each other in awfully small cages. They all appear to be young, and you can see that there are Hellhound pups, Pheonix hatchlings and even a Pegasus foal. They look half-starved by the looks of things.

I notice how badly starved the creatures are, "Why do you treat them in this matter?"

He frowns, looking over his shoulder at the creatures in cages. "Now now miss, there's nothing wrong with these here Familiars. You can't be picky like that, now, can you?"
One of the Hellhounds, one that wasn't cowering like the others, let's out an angry bark. The Dwarf ignores it and it growls at him.

I look at the Hypogriffs, "Have you been treated like this if so give me a sign and I will personally make sure this abuser is tried by the elvan councial. I don't like to see any creature abused high or low and these Familiars are abused, starved, and mistreated. Release them now or else."
My voice though colder then the harshest winter does not betray the fire in my eyes that should tell the dwarf I am not messing around.

The Dwarf quivers with fury and seems to be weighing up his options. But fear shows in his eyes too, making him act swiftly. "And who do you think is going to tell the High Council of Elvenor?" he says menacingly. Then he looks at his two Hippogrifs, and in that instant you realise that in your rage you failed to notice that he has untied them from the cart. "Carrion, Moult, go fetch."
However the two Hippogrifs are looking you in the eyes, and make no move to attack you. Instead each of them bow their heads slightly... before they turn on the Dwarf.
"I said fetch. Come on, this has been the only fool that's been walking the wrong way, we can deal with her and no one will notice," he growls. They take a step forward and he can no longer hide the fear that creeps into his face. "You know we only have to do this deal one time - then you can go back to your master and you'll never see me again-"
They shriek and he yelps, jumping back and bolting into the forest. They follow, hot on his heels.

I smile and divide up my bread equally between the pheniox hatchlings and Hellhound puppies giving my apple to the pegasus foal.

One of the Hellhound pups runs off as you try to offer it your bread, as well as both of the Pheonix. They were frightened out of their wits, not understanding that you had saved them, and may never trust Higher creatures again - for good reason. But at least you can go on knowing your actions spared them from a horrible fate.
The other Hellhound pup that hadn't been scared before ignores the bread you offer it - it is a carnivore after all - but licks your hand happily, wagging its tail. The Pegasus eyes you warily and makes no move for the apple.

I smile at the hellhound pup and put the bread back in my bag. Then I turn to the pegasus, "I'm going to get you back to your parents if they are still alive I promise." I keep my voice soft and calm trying not scare them.
(Sorry about the editing I think of stuff after I post sometimes)

(I do the exact same, it's no problem ^.^)
Understanding shines in the Pegasus' eyes, but it still doesn't approach you. Instead, it moves over to the cart driver's seat, where it tosses over a scroll from a storage compartment. It rolls to a stop by your feet while the foal watches you.
