I'm not sure where you saw that luffox are in the high priority ravamp category?
High priority are fae and bulbori (Fae is the likely next one, given that it was between them and nyte for this revamp), and are set for major art overhauls
(hence why they haven't gotten any new traits other than all-species restricted traits in years)
(nyte elegant runes don't count since those are my fault)
Aeridini, Griffi, Lighira, Nephini, and Ryori (and maybe Luffox?) are set for revamps that will be more oriented towards updating lines/ shading revamps/ trait shuffling and fixing/ layering fixes (eg. ryori's shading being blue rather than black like all the other species, neph wings being stuck behind their bodies) rather than complete overhaul.
(which is why they DO get new traits/ are included in the trait submission contests)
and last I was aware of after them are 'might be adjusted' qit and vul, for potential changes to colour slots and trait organistation (see example: vul skeletal armor being an m1 trait for some reason)
(though qit might have been the mane trait updated a few months back? I'd have to ask)

Theres a thread with all that in the forum somewhere, and I think the Luffox was on the list along with the Nytekrie, Faelora, and Bulbori. I dont know that it was listed as a high priority species, but Im pretty sure it was in the list of ones slated for a full revamp. Its possible Im wrong, though 8]. *Shrugs*
Go back a page and look at my post. Compare the pine cones to the dried teasel image: Those tails look nothing like pine cones, they aren't even the same shape. I'd be more concerned with the size of the female's hips, since anything that narrow, now that I look closer, is unlikely to be able to lay eggs. I'm pretty sure those were wider the first time I looked, but now she looks like a half-grown pullet, instead of a full grown female.
What happened?
As someone who lives around pine trees, the interior of the tail does look like pine cones. The image you posted contained all sorts of shapes, but they were all dried pinecones, meaning that they have the seeds ready to drop off. Non-dried pinecones look much more like the interior of the tails.
However, it also does look like the teasel as well, something can look like multiple things to multiple people.

I would be more than happy if the only thing fixed was the wings...especially the males which stand in front of both pairs...how does it fly, lopsided?

Are they =\? Ive never looked carefully enough at them to see that. Interesting. And yeah, not that great design-wise, if thats the case :[.

Male. Now, I ask you, how would he ever get off the ground? Both wings look like they're attached to the lowest part of his neck, for one thing, and both are on the other side of his body for another...this is the thing I want fixed.
At best, he's carrying a big flower around.

In agreement with you & other players that while slightly better (the male at least), they still dont look fierce enough. *Nods* In the previous thread, I suggested the male be drawn in mid-screech. I didnt post a pic to show what I meant, because I play on my phone & dont know of any program or app that would allow me to do that, but I imagine you know what I mean.

These are amazing! My only criticism is that their back legs look rather flimsy, especially for a predator. This is easier to see on the female.
(Those feathers are so pretty...)

Hello everyone! Thank you again for the feedback! We have changed several things with the feedback given from this thread.
While we know we can't make everyone happy, hopefully these changes will please the majority. :)
Once again, please with any feedback given be constructive!
Also...I keep seeing people arguing in this thread about what species is suppose to be next. Luffox is not being looked at currently for a revamp at this time. The next species that will get a revamp is Faelora followed by Bulbori. After that, then we will take a look at old fabled lineart to update and readjust as needed for things to be colored/shaded/layered better. :)

Hmm the male looks kind of cross eyed, and the female maybe should be looking at the viewer? The females tail base seems....a little small? weak? The base of her tail looks small. Thats all. I'm not sure why everyone is complaining about the pinecone tail. It actually seems sensible, like a natural camouflage for when there sitting in a tree stalking prey.
