And off Es went into the Empress' quarters. He set his belongings down on a tea table and looked over the sleeping woman with some apprehension. After a moment, he took a seat beside her and rested a glowing hand over her forehead, stepping into her thoughts to observe once again.

They were coming from her. Or more rather, the inner depts of her soul, being twisted by the small bit of what was left of the dark magic.

After a couple of hours, small whispers began surfacing. They were the same dark thoughts, but much quieter, seemingly reflecting the influence they had on her state of mind.
