Your party moves along the riverbank at a steady pace. Crimson, Emberpaw and even Shootingstar at times muck around as you go, Numbat watching on with an amused expression. The two Phoenix are off doing their own thing, as usual.

Once or twice Crimson comes up to you with some object she's found, disappearing off with it again seconds later. As the sun creeps up to the middle of the sky, she finally runs out of energy and walks by your side.

There's a fork in the river, and Numbat consults the map. "We've made decent time," he says thoughtfully, squinting at it. "But we'd be best to keep on moving until nightfall."

Crimson groans. "My paws are tired though. We've been walking forever."

Asteria picks up both hellhound puppies, "I think Shootingstar agrees with you Numbat as do I."

"Well, I'm not a stuck up dragon, so I'm not about to prance around and spit some flame out," he says with surprising venom in his voice. "We'll just have to search around, see if there's any warehouses or other places the folk at the market stalls would store their goods at night."

He looks from the egg to you, conflict in his eyes. "Are you... are you sure? What if they're hostile and they harm you?"

"Can you lift me over please Foenisha?" the Dwarf boy says, managing to get your name entirely wrong. "I don't think I can get down the ladder."

Crimson yips, her little feet flailing in the air. "Better! This is gonna be so fun!" she looks up at you with a sparkle in her eyes. "We should do this all the time." Emberpaw snuggles in and looks like he's going to fall asleep again.

Shootingstar looks just about as grateful as Numbat, and you carry on. Another benefit of carrying the pups is the fire they have keeps the cold of the day away.

Your back is aching by the time the two squirm out of your grip and start walking on their own again, wisely not wasting valuable energy playing.

By the time the sun touches the horizon you are absolutely exhausted, but Numbat thankfully tells you that you're on schedule and the party should reach the village by nightfall tomorrow.

Though your muscles are shaking with the exertion of all the travelling today and your stomach is empty and grumbling, you know that walking will only get easier from now on.
