Social media is different from your private diary, when the conversation or group chat is public, e.g a thread of tweets. If this was in fact a private discord server, where someone already in the group would need to invite you, then yes, it's private group chat on a social media, with akin privacy to a journal.

Also, it helps some people to have a book they can write their negative thoughts in to move on from those thoughts. The whole point is that they go in the book, and stay in the book. Much like a vent chat.

This is paramount to getting fired from a job for saying you hate your job outside of work. In your own home. By this logic. A completely locked down server that isn't posted here, discussed here and isn't public at all.

1) I did not share any additional screenshots. I have it. I could have exposed the player in question who was actually mean. but I won't. I only linked the image Krin had already posted. Rather than post it as an image, or quote his entire post which would take up space, I linked the image that Krin had used. I only did that so people wouldn't be like "wait, which of these dozens of screenshots is Xav referencing?"

There is no additional screenshot added, nor did I name the player I spoke of as a courtesy.


2) I was not at all trying to address the fact that screenshots had been provided. I'm holding a neutral stance on that debate.

I was only revealing, to my own detriment, the reason why one of these screenshots was cropped.

It was done for my sake, because had I not already known what the full screenshot continued on to say, I probably would have been shocked and hurt to learn about it now. I will say again that I appreciate Krin for intentionally cropping the insult out. And I came out to reveal the reason for the crop to acknowledge that it's possible that other screenshots were cropped for similar reasons.


Were I someone who had 0 involvement, I'd be wondering why there are so many cropped images. Because I DO know the reason for one of them, I figured it was worth sharing with the community:
"this screenshot was cropped to remove an insult targeted at me."



I'm not here about my hurt feelings. What was said was said. Did it hurt when I found out? Of course. Does it still hurt? A little. Do I blame my friends who were involved? No. Do I have beef with the person who insulted me? Not really, which is why I kept the situation anonymous.

I just wanted to reveal the reason for one of the images being cropped since it involved me, and revealing it might help the community understand that there may be fair reasons why the images are cropped.

I'm not so sure about the economy tanking situation as I was not part of this investigation for 5-6 months so I'm sure theres more complex details we're not seeing, but also I can understand making frustrated jokes in a server with friends. Don't entirely feel comfortable justifying or calling out the bans related to this.

Doxxing and swatting however are non-negotiable. Even jokes about this kind of stuff is in very poor taste, I've had friends who were almost doxxed and it's been some of the scariest moments of their lives. It was awful to witness. If Krin and Fai geniunly felt unsafe or if players even suggested it'd be funny to do something like this I can understand why the ban.

It sucks to see old players go, and there are some people I'll miss talking to on this site, but if I'm interested in keeping up with them I've made off site connections I can use for that purpose without hurting or putting this community in jeopardy. Besides if someone I know made doxxing jokes or threats maybe i didn't know them all that well.

Additionally whats done is done, maybe more appeals can be made for certain players because I'm not sure how many were directly involved and how many just felt hurt that their friends were banned, but thats not something thats gonna happen right away not with trust being broken like this. So I think I'll just kinda give this time to settle before coming to any new conclusions or decisions on the rightness of this situation. I'm honestly kinda neutral about the screenshot shares because on the one hand breach of privacy, on the other, supposedly people came forward with this idk what to think

EDIT: I think it's important for people to remember that at the end of the day sylestia is a buisness, we've grown a lovely community here and its great that connections can be made and friendships and yadda yadda. But this is still a functioning buisness. They have legal rights and actions they can take. Thats not to say censorship and beware ye who enter and all that. Just that there's a very real profit that they have to make and people intentionally tanking it can affect a lot of peoples liveliehoods.
Whether the actions taken or not are right I can't say. I don't have enough information. I'm honestly not that emotional over this because I'm aware that I'm a customer in this buisness. I'm aware of my position on this website and I'm not living in fear because if I adhere to their models I'm not gonna be in trouble. And if something I say does get me banned, then I guess i wouldn't want to support this buisness anyways.

So for everyone comparing this and that take a step back and realize this setting is entirely different then metaphors and similies. it has its own nuances and situations. And at the end of the day it's a transaction to participate in this game. You can make connections and have fun, thats what they sell. But it's still being sold.

also maybe you can tell me because i dont understand but why woudl saying what others said put krin in danger he could just say "they said xyz" and scrub only the personl bit leaving the trest of the reaally small amount of context that would help make it more udnerstandable

I disagree.

This is akin to badmouthing the owner of your company and your fellow coworkers in a group chat you and a few work buddies share. One of the work buddies, who is friends with the owner, informs the owner of what you said. It's also determined that you are purposefully slacking off on the job and intentionally making mistakes in your work because, "Lol, like the owner is going to be hurt by this."

The owner then fires you.

It is not private if you are allowed online in a group chat. If you can invite whoever you want to read it, it is not confidential, even more so if you make your actions public.

I will stop arguing with you because you want to join the sheep. At the end of the day, it is not your choice what happens, and the info was still leaked, so no longer privet. All these people need some real help.

I for one have yet to see ANY evidence that we are seeing the screenshots in the correct context.

Where is our evidence that these images are not taken and edited in a way to specifically portray people in a manner that is not true? The way these DMs came into krins possession REEK of someone being mad over something petty, and trying to exact revenge on their friends in any way they can.

I will admit - i believe i will be banned for voicing my opinion on this thread. With the way bans are being thrown out like confetti, i imagine it wont be long before my account is gone, too.

and i still dont knwo about the doxing and swating because wouldnt baning peopel that said they could amke them more angry and make it happen that just makes me think they have good selfcontrol or were compeltely joking and that context is gone
