The male is based on winter's ice and snow. The Fancy Trapping and the eyes represent the evergreen and the Bell Collar Xmas.
The female is based on the fireplace's fire that is light up on this cold days. I use the Glow Critter and the Feathered Wings to better represent the flames.

The Sabre-tooth cat, eternal winter hunter. I think it's valid because the Sabre-tooth cat thrived in the Ice Age, which was the age of ice, snow, and never ending winter.

The Male is based on the cracking ice on a frozen lake lightly frosted with snow
The Female is based on air bubbles coming to the surface of that cracking ice.
