ooo I love my chickens. I'm down to four but in the next few weeks (two?) unless covid-19 shuts down our local agway I should be getting some more.

I don't think any have gone broody, we get 5 eggs a day, and I don't think they'll go broody anytime soon.
If they do my bets are on my golden laced wyandotte

Oh well boy do I have a story for you xD

We have one hen who always goes broody around this time of year, shes also our oldest hen at 7 years. Nice chicken, huge, shes super fat and fluffy, perfect brood material. Last yeear we had a chicken "Grumpy" who decided to be broody and hatched our new roosters and hens. This year one of the new hens decided she'd be broody, and hatched 4 chicks, meanwhile our oldest hen "Frenchie" predictably went broody....then last years brood Grumpy decided she wanted to be broody again! So now we had *3* broods in one box.

And today...well theres this really spastic chicken we don't really like ya? Cause we breed for well-mannered hens and roosters (our prize roo rn is,,, I swear he is the sweetest rooster. He'll follow you around and cluck,'lead the way' like a gentleman, and actually dust-bathes and sun-bathes with the hens.)

And so...when I noticed this chicken disappearin' all the time I knew she was broody, and I'd have to catch her to stop her from bein eatin, but honestly I couldn't find her and just gave up. Who cares if the spastic hen gets eaten anyway? We don't want her.

Wellll anywayyyy, today she emerged from whatever hideyhole she was in, and she has *so many* chicks. We've never had a brood hatch so many chicks in one row without a problem. And I didn't even have to hover over her and make sure everything was alright with the nest like I usually do. I stg it looks like she's got a cloud of little black peeps aroumd her-- I couldn't even count them all. Not even Frenchie had hatched so many before, and Frenchies done it alll

I wish we could hatch our own chicks ^-^

Unfortunately every time we get a rooster it um... moves upstairs, yeah?
My mom always complains about the noise even though we live in a farming town. She also complains that the neighbors will hate us but like, does it really matter? I've had a silkie rooster who was the absolute sweetest thing but my sister kicked him and he fought back so he got sent away. Next was Demarcus my barred rock rooster. I got him from my teacher who was retiring that year and my parents decided to kill him while I was away at a sleepover.

My mom got a duck last year and he beat up my hens, trampled one to death, messed up the coop more in a day than my chickens do in a week, and was constantly quacking and loud. I only just convinced my mom to send him away to be killed and ever since then I haven't had to clean out all the shavings in my coop, had to change the water everyday, had to put another scoop of food in everyday, and have gotten more eggs.
In general the thing was a menace and I normally love birds; hated him though. My roosters, who according to everyone were awful beings, were better tempered than the duck.

Now every time we get new chicks I like hope and hope that none are roosters because my parents constantly say we will try something to quiet them but kill them before we do. Demarcus, barred rock rooster, was going to try to sleep in a dark box but my parents offed him before the barn was even built so I have a hard time trusting them when they say that we can try to keep a rooster.

I wish I could have little chickies running around but our alpacas, goats, and barn cats would probably trample the poor things.

ooo chicks are vigilant dude xD They might not be so easily trampled.

Just had to save that aforementioned hen with all the chicks from becoming dog chow (or atleast her babies) I found her with a dog *and* a cat literally having a staredown right outside her hiding spot. We live in the suburbs, so our roosters are...well yeah they're kinda a problem with the crowing, except that literally 5 othee neighbors around use have chickens too so. Except the neighbor behind us, he hates our chickens s much je's been throwing rocks and spraying their coop at night for the past... year and a half? two years? one of those. We just put up cameras but he's still really mad at us and throws stuff at the cameras.

My goats are very uh, rambunctious? They're such pains. Yesterday I had to drag one out of our pool area and a minute later he was back in. I don't think I've ever seen them calm and we've had them since they were kids. My alpacas don't know how big they are, despite being close to my size and weight, they're the biggest animals we have and they can get energetic sometimes.

I learned alpacas are trainable! We have two, Walter and Arlo, and Arlo doesn't like people very much but Walter will come right up to you if you hold out a treat. I let them out in the mornings, my sister locks up, and I've trained Walter to give you a kiss to be let out of his stall ^-^

Is there someone you can report him too? What he's doing might be against a rule or something.

Yeah but we're collecting evidence right now :p

I got to hag out with a goat...once xD It was actually really nice and sweet and let me pet it and feed it and stuff. It was slaughtered the next day >.> It always hurts me to see such well-mannered animals killed for food, like, kill the one who tries to attack everyone and everything xD

D:
Our animals aren't food animals, my neighbors used to buy meat chickens, but they only have egg laying ones right now. One of them is my old Buttercup hen named Halloween. We had to give her up because they're social animals and at the time it was only her; good thing they let us over to hang with their farm animals anytime we want ^-^

The place where we bought Walter, Arlo, and our goats (Freckles, Foggy, Snuggs, and Summer) sells alpaca meat and stuff. I can't imagine eating our alpacas, they're so sweet. I guess there usually isn't much you can do when the animal is going to be killed except hope it goes quick.
I had this hen, one of the ones that laid green eggs, who didn't lay but she was my favorite. I named her Logan after this kid in my class who was always in crutches due to knee problems. She was really deformed and her neck was towards the side of her body if that makes sense? She wasn't in any pain and besides not laying eggs very often and being pretty tiny she was completely healthy. She got attacked by something and my parents refuse to pay any veterinary bills for my chickens so we just had to put her out of her pain and suffering. Probably the saddest thing you have to do on a farm but it's life.

They don't mind paying hundreds on a little lorikeet though... Not that I'm complaining, I love birds and Indy never fails to brighten my day. The whole bird vet story is long though

;-;
I mean...
Has he thought of...
Getting someone else to do it?
In the sneakiest way possible?

"Alrghty guys, contest: who can make the best androgynous base? There's a prize involved!"
"Oh, nice, androgynous base, now who can make the best outfit designs to go on it?! Prizes involved again!"

It 1) gets the community involved in a massive, exciting, competitive project, and 2) reduces work he has to do greatly. I know the coding would consume time, tho, so I don't really blame him >w< He does a great job with the site
