So I have 2 regular essences now, and a female zolnixi with 2 of the traits I need, but I don't know which gender to make the other two that I'm using essences to create. I also don't have a clue what genes and mutations to use.

Just like working with only essences, I recommend 2 males / 1 female. That way the female offspring from one male will be breedable to the other male, which allows for rapid egg breeding with the next generation.
As for exact traits, that is entirely up to you. Just play around with colors and traits in the generator until you find something you like! And if you're drawing a complete blank, it never hurts to look up a reference image.
The only advice I can give - more like a requirement for the project - is that you make sure you cover all the traits you need with the breeders! If you want G1 Banded Stripes and none of your original 3 have it, the trait won't appear by magic in future generations.

I'm trying to do a 6 vis snow song project(my other onw was put on hold until I have more practice because I suck at breeding the right traits in), but I'm not sure where to get started. I have 2 females and 2 males that have at least 2 carried traits, but I'm not sure where to go next. Could you tell me how I should pair them, or if I should get another zolnixi?
Male 1 has carried G1 and M1
Male 2 has carried G1 M1 and M2
Female 1 has carried G3 M2 and M3
Female 2 has carried G1 G2 and M2

I'd say since your males are extremely similar in traits (G1/M1, and G1/M1/M2) you should focus on breeding male2 to both females for your starting generation. The only difference is the addition of M2, so male1's only purpose would be giving you the generation gap since he won't be adding anything for trait slots.
Should you choose to get another nixi, I would recommend a male with G2/G3/M3 - the traits that are currently missing on the other two males. Having traits that are doubled up for the males doesn't have any real benefit, but if you can get all 6 traits cleared on male breeders it'll speed your progress significantly since the offspring will have a wider range of traits available, thus letting you breed potential 6-trait pets faster.

Heya Xavion. ^.^ I had a question and I can't seem to find the answer in the forums.
I'm a pro at breeding for traits, but I was thinking of starting my first max stats project. I know very little about it in execution.
My questions is this:
Does a higher level pet pass better stats to its offspring?
In other words, are exp orbs a vital component, or just philters?

Levels have no affect on base stats, no, so there's no advantage to leveling pets for a stats project.
The only thing a high level pet will pass onto its offspring is just a few levels which, if I' m not mistaken, increase as the pet goes through the hatchling stage - I think at a 10% ratio? So if memory serves, a level 40 pet can give a level 4 offspring. Been a few years since I've bred anything with levels though, so this is all distant memory stuff.
100% on base stats not being affected by parent level though :)

hope you don't mind the ping ^^; you're one of the best i can think to ask this, because you really have it all worked out.
so i'm going for a 6v nyte project, and i have 6 mystical essences on my hands. as of now, i have a male with vis g1 and carried g2/g3, and a female with vis m3 and carried m1/m2. best case scenario when they adult, they produce a 6-carry baby, at worst a 2-carry.
my question is, what gender and traits should i make the other 4 nytes? should i make it so i have 4 males and 2 females, 3 of each, etc? what trait set-up on the remaining essences would help me out more in the future? (intended goal below) i'll eventually stat them, but i'm not even going to look into that until later >w>;
I recommend 2 males, and the rest females. Just make sure the traits on male1 and male2 cover ALL 6 traits and you'll have a strong starting setup. Offspring of male1 will be breedable to male2; offspring of male2 will be breedable to male1. Offsetting traits will help balance out the trait pool.
For your females, I recommend two for each of the males. Like your first pair with a male+female that have 6c potential.
Since you're doing 6 1V2C pets, try to make sure you have 1 vis for every slot. On mobile so cant do multiple tabs to see what you've already generated, but basically what I mean is this:
Pet1: Vis G1, carried G2 G3
Pet2: Vis G2, carried G1 G3
Pet3: Vis G3, carried G1 G2
Pet4: Vis M1, carried M2 M3
Pet5: Vis M2, carried M1 M3
Pet6: Vis M3, carried M1 M2
This will help balance out the traits and ensure that all traits pass into the next generation.
For the first generation of offspring, you'll want to focus more on females. Any Male that is less than a 1V2C is not worth keeping at all since you have the other generated male. Once you get 1-2 improvements from the generated males (ie, a 2V1C, a 4-trait or better, 6 trait of possible and if a female 6 trait hatches early on I would recommend gender swapping) then you can use those to replace the Male breeders once they're old enough.
Always breed for as many trait slots as possible and you should be able to finish the project pretty quick!
