Agreeing with the top part of this comment. :) I honestly believe that admin interpretation, site interpretation, and user-interpretation of all pets are just what they are, interpretation, and NO ONE intends to hurt anyone when interpreting anything!
I also viewed zolnixis as some sort of hybrid to cater to fox lovers and wolf lovers, and what I like about them the most? The fantasy eyebrows lol. Which I can find from certain breeds of doggies!
As for all the art critiques...as a person with 0% affinity for art, anatomy, and zoology, I don't see anything wrong with anything (and could have been okay with just what the front part showed aha).
I can sorta understand the tail up-tail down argument for asserting behavior, but in the end, art's art, and could've fooled me!
I hope the artists and admins that are working hard to please people and set the zolnixi up for the future are happy with their decisions on the zolnixi, because it's a leap and bound different from what we have now, and I definitely think that their efforts to take in both suggestions by the crowd and keep certain things as is aren't without reason and take quite a bit of consideration. :)

I have to agree completely with flute, the interpretation is all based on opinions and errors in the artwork are only errors to those who see them as such. I personally commend the artist's for the are absolutely stunning and so thank you for the fabulous artwork. xD

Cute, although the eyes kinda creep me out on both of them. (Actually giving them pupils might help.)

These are just lineart. Their pupils come with the shading. :)

The Zolnixi has always been my favorite sylesti since I joined a year ago, and after seeing these revamp previews, I'm less scared of them changing. :) Before I was not sure I wanted them changed, but I think the artists did a good job. I like the smile on the 1st adult male preview, and I like the added tail fluff volume on the 2nd baby female preview.
Overall, they look beautiful and fluffy and extra huggable. :3

OMG! O.O I LOVE THEM!!! The babies are so tut!
I'm kind of split with the whole smirk thing for the male, I feel that a smirk is more of a feminine feature but I'd also like him with a little more happy of an expression. Maybe just make his eyes sparkle extra XD Or slightle curve his lip up instead of down, just enough to where he's not frowning.
EDIT: Oh I forgot to say how much I love how fuzzy their ears look. Well done!

I love these so much~ but i happen to agree with the smile. the male doesn't look sad or serious. he looks angry to me.

Personally I'm not seeing where people are seeing the wolf in them? They always just seemed pretty much like they were based off of foxes, primarily in the Kitsune mythos by the face marks.
As far as I am aware...
Foxes are long, oblong bodied, often have mid length legs compared to that length, smallish, neat feet, long tails and quite large, pointy ears relative to their head size.
Wolves have reasonably deep but narrow chests, long legs, large feet and short tails, along with smaller ears compared to their head size, and the ears well-furred and rounded at the tip.
In addition, foxes have quite different body language compared to the wolf and dog part of the Canidae family, in part due to the fact that they diverged from eachother tens of millions of years ago.
Also, foxes have naturally got pretty bushy tails, and the zolnixi seems like it's in a pretty natural neutral position to me, in counter to what Nabiki said? (I will leave the whole "higher ranking male" thing alone or I will start getting worked up about perpetuated myths) Like, just looking up photos of foxes and loads of them have their tails down in perfectly relaxed/neutral stances, like the male zolnixi.
Such as this one and this one , and also this one
and OH, the revision was posted while I was messing arious trying to get the image links right.
Male's body shape is far nicer in the updated, female's rump is unchanged and so still bugging us a bit with her minor roaching. Or maybe with her it's something to go with the leg shape, her knee? Ehhh, I don't know.
Feel kind of like the closer hind leg of the male could be facing a bit more outward than it is, it seems like it's pointing in a bit?
Earfluff. Earfluff is glorious. And now I am all foxed out for the minute.
