Is it possible to have a generated pet that has hidden carries? I was wondering because I hatched my first zolnixi. https://www.sylestia.com/image_builder_pet.php?species=zolnixi&breed=sylesti&gender=female&gd1=NN&gd2=NN&gd3=EE&ec=c6d2df&c1=da32d8&c2=df776e&c3=f1f8ee&gd1c=f7fcf5&gd2c=f6f0f4&gd3c=c1d3ec&maturity=73&owned=1&size=500 She has the Lucky Runes but her father was generated and didn't have it and her mother doesn't have Lucky Runes either.

It is not possible for generated pets to have carries.

Your zolnixi has Lucky Runes because her mother carries it. If you use the advanced search to look at the mother, you'll see this:

She has (BE) Digital Runes. The "E" trait in gene 3 for zolnixis is Lucky Runes.

So your baby has the "E" (lucky runes) from the mother, and "G" (frost runes) from the father, resulting in her being "EG" for gene 3. Since "E" is more dominant than "G", the visible trait is lucky runes.

Edit: you'll need to genetically test your pet to see the hidden and carried traits. So you won't be able to see "EG" for the baby, unless you get her tested.

Um, I have a few basic questions.
1. Do you ever breed more than one egg?
2. Is there Amy sorta breeding limit on pets? (Ex: You may only breed once per day!)

1. You cannot breed more than one egg from a breeding pair at the same time. Each breeding will produce one egg, and you'll have to wait till the females recover (3 days for most pets, 7 days for fabled pets) to breed again.

2. No breeding limit for males.
Females have a recovery period, during which they cannot breed again till the cooldown is over. (3 days for most pets, 7 days for fabled pets)

I might have overlooked this, and if I did I'm sorry.

But since I asked a question about this in the newbie/faw section....

You might want to add that used to you could breed siblings, but now you can't do that (AKA: How far you can inbreed/when the game will tell you the two sylesties cannot breed even when both are adults of opposite genders, same species, and no cooldown timer on them XD)

In case, no one suggested it, I will! XD

Question too: If you breed two themed pets together (same theme)....will the child be themed too? Or is that not possible?

So...just to make sure I understand this: if I were to breed two Sylvesties that had different visible genes in the same slot, the offspring would get an allele for each gene from the respective parent. Whichever of the genes is more dominant is the one that the offspring would have (and be listed as having), correct? If that's the case, would that gene then be visible, or just carried?

Sorry if that was confusing. ^^;

If you breed two same-themed pets together, the child will come out with the same colouration as the parents (might have a bit of colour swing), which is consistent with the themed colouration. Most players on this site refer to that child as a purebred.

However, the child will not have any tag or indication that it is a purebred of the theme. So you won't be able to use the advanced search to find such pets. Only the original parents have the tag that shows they are of the themed. purebred offsprings won't.

Yep, the more dominant gene will be the visible one.

Both genes are kinda "carried", since it's a 50-50 chance of either passing down to the kids.
We usually call the dominant trait the visible, and the recessive trait the hidden one.

So, for example, if the dad is AA for gene 1, and the mom is BB for gene 1:
the kid will be AB for gene 1.
so the kid is visible trait A, and hidden trait B.

Since A is more dominant than B, the kid will show trait A for gene 1, the pet genetics will show trait A in the info box. The advanced search however, will show AB (this only shows if your pet is genetically tested).

So if the kid is bred in the future, his future kids have a 50% chance of passing down trait A, and a 50% chance of passing down trait B.

Hope that answers your question.
