Update on Winter, 02May24. He came through the surgery very well but is having a rough recovery time. He's still very groggy and doesn't want to try to stand. The veterinary hospital staff warned me the first three days after surgery will be hard on all of us.

I haven't taken a photo of him, but he has a long line of stitches where his right front leg used to be. My current avatar is in honor of Winter.



Sylestia needs some doctors' and nurses' outfits.

Edit: I keep resubmitting my doctor's outfit every chance I get. One day the admins will accept it!


Update on Winter, 07May24. Winter can't walk yet, even with support, but he has at least begun to try to walk. Some of his lab results are in, and he has defeated the bacterial infection at last!

Update on Winter, 25May24. He's not becoming mobile as rapidly as the veterinarians suggested that he would. He's still unable to stand without support, let alone get up or walk. However, as of today he's showing some developing strength in his remaining front leg. He's also figuring out how to scoot around on the floor a bit, and has discovered he can change his facing by pivoting on his rump!


Update on Winter, 06Jun24: Today, for the first time since the amputation, Winter stood unsupported for several seconds. I wasn't even helping him to balance (much), just touching his sides so he knew I was there to catch him.

Update on Winter, 21Jul24: Winter is making very slow progress, but he has begun to move himself about on the floor. His greatest problem seems to be the weakness and pain in his hindquarters due to the arthritis. His remaining front leg and forequarters have become quite strong.

I bred Sylestia's first 6-Vis Anthias Lunemara--
