Numbat fidgets with a clasp on his pack. "Shouldn't we travel until the afternoon? I mean, if we camp again in this exact area then we'll be going into the settlement at night by the time we make it there. All the shops will be closed. Plus I've already trapped things here, so we'll catch less today."
The two phoenix flutter onto nearby branches, waiting for the final decision to be made. The pups hesitate and Shootingstar looks excited at the prospect of keeping on getting closer.
"Sorry I guess I'm a little excisted so let's go," Asteria packs up and starts walking.
He rustles his wings and nods. "A bit of excercise wouldn't hurt."
The dwarf drums his fingers on the counter. "Right. What I need are borealis 'shrooms. They grow under the canopy of the ancient forest in the darkness, but if you're on ground level you won't miss them. They shine like stars with all the colours of the rainbow. I need five decent sized ones for an alchemist client of mine."
He then scrunches up his nose, thinking. "...but I would feel bad if I only gave you a measly blanket for them. Ten gold coins are in it for you as well. Or another item on my stall, should it be worth the same."
It betrays the fact that this favour may be a tad more difficult than he's saying. It doesn't escape your notice that the darkest parts of the ancient forests are where wyverns are found lurking. But if you want some gold to easily buy something else with no favours needed, or other supplies from this vendor, then it could be worth it.
"The gold would be useful...but there are wyverns there, are you fine with that Brazentalon?" I ask him.

(I've just left it at family clan for now, you happy with the setup I've stuck in?)
The first from the east looks young. She has lots of fine jewellery that matches the theme of the wares she has collected. She chats to a customer with a smile on her face, her ears perked up. Not old, or a storyteller, but someone who seems to pick up a thing or two.
The second is a lot older. His antlers are cracked and weathered and he sits at his counter. But his eyes are sharp as he examines the crowd around him, including you. He sees you analysing and nods politely. If he's been to the north and possibly into Vanguard itself, then he has to have seen a lot. But if he's been trading with dwarves he might not have picked up as much from them.
The third from the west is scarred and calloused. His ram horns are chipped and scratched, and one is partially broken off. You watch as he haggles with a customer, quickly losing his temper. But quickly he smiles as the exchange is made in his favour, the customer hastily trotting away. This vendor is unlikely to have met many people, but is one of the very few who have been to the western territories. The vibrant dragon scales betrays it as one from the cliffs of the west, and some of the various pelts could only have come from there, too.
I walk towards the Northern merchant, returning his nod with a friendly smile. "Greetings, sir."
(Ah, right. No worries, you don't have to do quotes if you aren't able to c:)
The shutters drop down and land on the grains quietly.
Clambering down the rope ladder is easy, and soon you are over by the warehouse section you were looking for. It's filled with crates that are filled with the enchanted weapons you were looking for. Shortswords and axes, pale as ivory and covered in runes.
Now you just need to decide how many you can afford to take. And if there's any other supplies in here you might want to have a quick look around for. This whole warehouse appears to be allocated to exotic goods, perhaps you could find some hair dye around.
As long as Balthur doesn't find out you went somewhere you perhaps weren't meant to be, you should be fine.
He looks for....a dagger. Because those are the easiest to hide. Or a knife.
And yep. Definitely hair dye.

Numbat looks relieved. "Good good, it's all fine. Let's go."
You travel until afternoon, the air constantly nippy. But by the time Numbat decides that where you've stopped is a good place to camp, you can clearly see the rise of the foothills and the peaks of the mountains much closed than they ever have been before.
The two phoenix fly off to go and hunt, as do the pups. Crimson nuzzles your hand before loping off with Emberpaw into the undergrowth.
"And now to teach you to trap. Any questions before we go to look for a burrow of some sort?"

"Wyverns mostly roam around at night, and we should be gone by then," he muses. "There's a lot you can get with gold, and few who will give you it for a favour. I think we should take the deal, but be quick and not risk being in the forest after nightfall."

(Silvermane Herd it is then)
"Good day, young one," he says warmly. He gestures to the goods on the counter in front of him. "Is it one of these you desire today, perhaps? I've heard that the runestones make perfect paperweights. You seem like the well-read sort we need more of nowadays."

You sift around through the crates and find a curved blade. It shimmers as you touch it. There are sheathes nearby that you can keep it safely in, tied to your belt if you wish. It will fit in your pack in the meantime.
Searching around, you find a section that is filled with bags and jars of different brightly coloured materials. A tray of small jars with sooty powder inside is thankfully labelled 'hair dye'.
How many do you want to take, and do you want to look for any other supplies?

"Is there a specific type of material needed to trap or can a trap be made from any material," Asteria asks.

He takes two of the hair dye, and goes for a few pieces of food for both him and Knight as well. No need to be too greedy thought; once he's got those he gets out of there again.
