Hey quick note, to the ones tagged in here, if you remember the first initial post, everyone who submitted an actual entry in the first round, come collect your compensation prize thing

aka its 15k (CoD me something), and a choice of an offspring from my custom project pets.

this is more for the ones who at the moment aren't able to, or aren't resuming the contest, the ones still in it, don't collect this as you have the potential final prizes.

If you received a ping in THIS message, it means you've entered into the next round....

Final Round

Animals and bugs, they're fascinating. Now here is a list, you may pick two of them from the list, do your research, there is a very particular reason why these are included on the list and write your final entry. You also have your one main creature, the second one you pick is a mini/smaller one that can be written in to an extent or hinted at, but should not overshadow the main.

You're not required to about the creature, just their 'specialty' that stands out, use it and harness it into your story. Of course, as usual, please list which ones you have picked (here is a tip, wikipedia should not be the only research, and their binomial name is there for a reason so you can locate the right research for the right species, and honestly, these creatures got fascinating stuff about them, so please, favor, actually legit research them, I did not throw them willy nilly onto here for nothing lol)

-Large Blue Butterfly (Phengaris arion)
-Komodo Dragon (Varanus komodoensis)
-Great Spotted Cuckoo (Clamator glandarius)
-Common Cuckoo (Cuculus canorus)
-Mantis (general ones, not aiming for specific)
-Eastern Copperhead (Agkistrodon contortrix
-Humpback Anglerfish (Melanocetus johnsonii)
-Harpy Eagle (Harpia harpyja)
-Hemlock Moth (Agonopterix alstroemeriana)
-Jewel Wasp (Ampulex compressa)
-Carrion Crow (Corvus corone)
-Grey Parrot (Psittacus erithacus)
-Greater Blue-ringed Octopus (Hapalochlaena lunulata)
-Common Vampire Bat (Desmodus rotundus)
-Rosy Wolfsnail (Euglandina rosea)
-Spotted Hyena (Crocuta crocuta)

Deadline: May 4th

(one last hint, a fun story idea could be using the creatures you aren't already commonly familiarized with, plus an interesting use of both 'specialty' makes an interesting story)

Going with the common cuckoo and carrion crow. We'll see what happens...

(also that is a LOT of brood parasites. I'm scared.)

Here it is! The carrion crow theme is super subtle, since I couldn't really figure out their singular "specialty" so I went with several behavioral characteristics. Hopefully they come through!

OOoooooh it will be the Harpy Eagle and the greater blue ringed octopus for me

My entry

High on a mountain, a view to behold. A once small world, now seems so big. While down below, oceans of blue. Spread far and wide, so vast and deep. With hidden secrets, and mysteries untold. Plants and animals, rocks and ores. Ancient stories once buried, now are being found.

From the north to the south, from the east to the west. Many creatures can be found, some known and some unknown. From tiny invisible creatures, our eyes cannot see. To the ones so large, they squash you and me. Some spend their life, deep under the ground. And yet there are others, who sit high in trees. Watching the world, pass on by.

From deep blue oceans, to warm tropical forests. From cold winter lands, to high mountainous peaks. Are animals and plants, both good and bad. To survive they, all must fight. With skills gathered, over many years. Some use venom, others have camouflage. Claws and teeth, beak and wings. Some will eat, some are eaten.

There are some, that are rare. And others, so common. Some can live for 25, 50 or even 100 years. While others live, only a week. All creatures have a common name, but also an interesting scientific name. Like Hapalochlaena lunulate, or Bradypus variegatus. Plants will also have them, like Swietenia mahagoni or Posidonia. (I promise i didn't make them up... don't believe me?? Well why not look it up)

From the biggest, to the smallest. All creatures and plants, are important in life. But just be careful, because some still bite............. Chomp. mehehehehe.

Yep! Themes are much more fun anyway. Going to try to write something short, if only for my sanity. Is there a word minimum?
