Nouva, the exiled nightmare

Long ago in the first days the natural forces of the universe found Sylesti to guard them. Guardians for the elements, guardians for the season and times of day. Places and things... One of these guardians of Kimiress, guardian of nightmares. Recently she noticed one of her nightmares was growing... soft. This nightmares by the name of Nouva was no longer tormenting her victims. She wasn't a dream Kimiress knew that, she formed this nightmare with her very own essence! Such a disgrace!

Enraged Kimiress casts Nouva out of the Dreamworld in which both dreams and nightmares reside. Nouva is now lives in the form of a Kelpari, ironic since Kimiress too id a Kelpari. Nouva doesn't regret a single decision she made and never will

Selene of the Setting Sun

Selene's job was to escort the sun across the water when it was time for the moon to shine. She wasn't bothered by this in the least; in fact, the sun was her friend, and they would talk and play all day long. Then, when it was time for the sun to set, Selene would sing the sun a lullaby:

Come sun, my tiny star
It's time for you to set
You must go below the world
So everyone can rest

The daytime is for having fun
The nighttime is for sleep
Now you must go to bed
But in my heart you'll keep
Shining.

Selene and the sun were such great friends that they went everywhere together, spreading the sun's warm rays of light across the earth and all of the Sylesties. However, when nighttime came they had to say goodnight and go their separate ways, until it was time for the sun to rise again. The moon, witnessing their friendship, became jealous and mean towards Selene, going so far to change her coloring to that of the twilight that came with the sun's setting. When the sun saw what had happened, she did the best she could to change Selene's colors back to their original vibrant nature, but could only change her mane and fins back to their sunny color. Now Selene escorts both the Sun and moon across the sky, making sure to never favor one over the other. Sometimes, though, you can still hear her singing the sun to sleep, if you listen close to the waves as they crash upon the shore:

Come sun, my tiny star
It's time for you to set
You must go below the world
So everyone can rest

The daytime is for having fun
The nighttime is for sleep
Now you must go to bed
But in my heart you'll keep
Shining.

War

From the dawn of time my future has been laid out before me. To cause misery, destruction and pain. That is, was and will always be, my purpose. For I crave the blood of any being set before me. I will whisper in the ears of enemies, sowing distrust and hate until they have utterly destroyed each other. I cause the bloodiest deaths and I am the one to blame for your enemies and I shall not stop until the world has been razed by fire and flooded with blood.

Of the Four Horsemen others claim that Famine, Conquest and Death is the strongest, scariest or most sadistic. But at the end, when the sun has set for the final time and we ride to finish the world. Know this, it is not the first, the third or the fourth that you should fear. Dismay at the coming of the Second Horseman. Beware of War.

Full Moon

There once was a small village nestled on the edge of the great sea. That village was known across the lands for the beautiful kelparis it raised. One of the most prominent breeders in the village was a young man named William. He had recently fallen in love with the most beautiful girl in the village. Although He was wealthy and attractive he could not convince her to marry him. Then finally one day she said that she would marry him if he caught and brought the mythical beast known to the town as the full moon. His heart full of determination he set out in search of the beast. He spent several days out at see looking for the creature but could not find it. His determination running out he spent one last night out at sea. As he was waiting for any sign of the creature, he saw the full moon turn the tips of the waves a silvery gold. As he was falling asleep a large splash startled him awake. It was the creature he had been looking for, but as he was reaching for a net to try and ensnare it, a large wave struck his boat and capsized it. Although William was a good swimmer he was no match for the strong currents that pulled him under. He was never seen again and It is said that the beast of the full moon still swims free in those waters to this day.

(This is by far the longest story I have given to one of my creations, ever.)

CAPILLARY KELPARI
noun capillary
any of the fine branching blood vessels that form a network between the arterioles and venules.

Capillary Kelpari are kelpari born without any pigmentation, a condition known as albinism. The individuals, scientifically, are known as albinos, but to the natives of Sylestia, with their visible blood vessels and veins, they are the "Capi-pari". You are hard-pressed to find them in shallow waters or above ground. With their sun-sensitive skin and eyes, Capi-pari frequent cave systems and the deep abyss. Typically solitary in nature, Capi-pari do not seek out companionship from others and are rather timid. However, if you approach one carefully and with an offering of white kelp, you may find yourself a new friend.

I was aiming for something vaguely gross in design, but nonetheless compelling. Hope it's okay!

Arctic Winter
The arctic is full of pale blue ice and cold white snow. Even when the sky is darkened the stars and moon's glow keep blackness at bay. In the midst of winter, the sun will not shine and even then, those bright, pale colors of the snow and ice make everything seem that much brighter, shining against the darkness until the sun returns. The Arctic Winter's sky and earth are locked in a battle, dark against light, until the sun rises once more, to restore the balance and slow the war. Each new winter the war continues, each winter is a new battle against the blackness, the dark that so many fear, and so much evil can come from. Even darkness, however, has some good, some beauty hidden within it, giving the light a true challenge in this war. Only time can tell if this ancient war will ever end.

Yugen, Bringer of Peace
Yugen is a Japanese word meaning "a profound and mysterious sense of the beauty of the universe".
Yugen the is a mythical creature. She wanders to the farthest extents of space and time, bringing a sense of peace and serenity to those she influences. Because of her control over where and when she is, she doesn't experience the universe in the same way we do. She can simultaneously be in every place and every moment that ever existed, and also nowhere at all.

Lake Kelpie

In some of the lakes and rivers of Sylestia, a subspecies of kelpari known as the kelpie resides. A rather sinister variation, they trick unsuspecting Sylestians to climb on their backs before they dive as deep as they can, with the intent of drowning their victims. Some believe these beasts to be nothing more than spirits or legends, mythical creatures created to scare children into listening when their parents tell them not to go near the water unsupervised. But for a few brave individuals, the kelpie does not induce fear or disbelief. Indeed some people go searching for them, to prove to all of Sylestia they exist. Perhaps once they catch one, then everyone will believe.

(This was based on the mythical water kelpie/water horse/whatever else it's called. Appearance was mostly influenced by the picture in 'Arthur Spiderwick's Field Guide to the Fantastical World Around You' which is the book from the Spiderwick Chronicles. I tried to uh, keep the description as unviolent as possible...Drowning people is not all they do, but that was the most important bit. I just didn't want to take it further.)
