" Well, then if I am wastin' yer time while I could be already sailin' the seas them please do go find something better to do, since a captain of a ship isn't 'worth your time.' " Maxine replied a little harshly. She really didn't like the tone she was using with her.

Just then she heard raised voices from the pier, both from Maxine and the girl who seemed to think she was all high and mighty because she liked swimming to the point of what was, in Defiance's mind, an unhealthy obsession.
She glanced at Amelie regretfully. "I know I ain't got any right to ask this of you or nothin', seein' as you ain't part of the crew, but would it be possible ye could go down belowdecks and start on a pump to bail her out? The Night took several cannonballs, and one left a split in the hull. I patched her up, but she's still takin' on water, slower now. The pump's in the stern of the hold, works just like your regular water pump in a town."
Then she stormed over the stand by Maxine. "Fishie, yer wasti' our time. I'm done with your puffed up arrogance. You're a right ungrateful brat with more pride and ego than what's good for you, and I ain't taking the likes of you onboard so long as I have a say in it."
She glanced at Maxine. "Deferrin' to the captain's decision, o' course."

Basically: Tracey's being an arrogant fish. Amelie shows up, is worthy of being a pirate. They just have a casual convo about the price on their heads and stuff. Sorry, what's the Navy doing? Right now, the Night's Revenge is almost unrecognizable, damaged and listing in the water, so the navy wouldn't outright recognize her if they did enter that same port.
