You gently place the mushroom on top of everything else, in the gap between two of the packs of griffin feed.
You look around the dark area and find two more of the mushrooms. You pick them and they act in exactly the same way as the first - dulling ever so slightly.
Carrying on through the forest, disturbing leaves as you go, you find two more dark pockets with mushrooms in. You collect them in the same way until you have a total of 10 mushrooms in your pack.
10 Borealis Mushrooms added to inventory
"Was that the amount he asked for?" Brazentalon squints. "Surely ten is enough."
"...I think he asked for five, so we probably have enough. Maybe we can trade the extras or something." I say. I follow the marks I made on the trees and go back to Elvenor.

(It really does. And it makes my clean-slate beginning you all have to go through)
The two phoenix settle down to sleep, the pups yawning and Shootingstar trotting away to the tent.
Discarding the bones of his meal, Numbat stands up, turning so you can't see the expression he is wearing after your words. "Well... time for sleep," is all he says, his voice strained. "Good night."

3 strange plant bundles added to inventory
It takes some time but by dark you have a nice supply of materials.
You grab two of the stones and strike them together over your collection of 'firewood'. Nothing happens. You try a few more times to no avail. You have some other rocks you can choose from - one rounded and black, another flaky and gray, one that looks like a normal pebble and another that is silvery and rough.

Brazentalon nods. "That would be pretty good."
As you make your way back, easily with your golden markings on the trees, Brazentalon stops you and silently points to his ear. Listen.
You hear the crunching of leaves and stomping footsteps up ahead. Whatever is causing it, however, is hidden by the densely packed trees.

"Sleep well Numbat," Asteria discards the ramains of her meal as well, "Come on you two."
There's plenty of dried grass and shrubbery around to block up the entrance. At a push, with enough of the small bushes and shrubs you could make a fire to last long enough. You could also start the fire with various shards of rock that have fallen from the larger shards that emerge from the grass.
There are also various flowers and other plants you don't recognise. Maybe at some point gaining some herbal knowledge would be beneficial.
Delirious growls and starts to try different combinations of the rocks starting with the flaky and gray one and the silvery and rough one.

They trudge into the tent, curling up against the cold. You are tired and weary after another whole day travelling, and hunkering down to place all of the snares hasn't helped. But you know it will pay off for the future.

Asteria tries to sleep but is kept awake by the memories of her past, "Good night." She places an arm around Crimson.

Picking up the new rocks, you try again. You strike - once, twice, and then sparks fly wildly, scorching your fingers. But at least you've gotten the right combination.
As you make your way back, easily with your golden markings on the trees, Brazentalon stops you and silently points to his ear. Listen.
You hear the crunching of leaves and stomping footsteps up ahead. Whatever is causing it, however, is hidden by the densely packed trees.
I panic inside, wondering who was it and what to do. I then decide to slowly prepare to mount Brazentalon. I keep looking at the source of the sound and wait for it to reveal itself.
