TOP 3
"Fandom" Challenge

This week seemed yet to be challenging for some. Mostly with the critiques again. Remember a critique needs both positive and constructive feed back. Not one of the other. Your fellow designers need to know what works again what does not specifically. Saying oh your color choice is good, but....That is a bit too vague. What color with what trait stood out in a positive way? What did you like specifically about it, even if it is the smallest detail. Just like being specific about what does not work is needed. Pointing out key areas instead of being vague is what helps people see what they cannot. It helps them learn from their mistakes, and running with what works. Should this continue to be a problem, I will have no other choice but to revise the critique requirements to reflect a little more precisely then they are now. So if you are not sure if your critique meets the requirement, please by all means ask. Reach out for help, as that is what we are all here for.

With that aside, I want to tell you all thank you so much for your amazing work with bringing to the table different fandoms in which you favor. It opens our eyes and minds to the ideas of other possibilities out there. It gives us curiosity to wonder more about what might intrigue us, and hopefully in some way experience it for ourselves. And though a number of you had to take this challenge off, I hope that next week will prove more plentiful of even more delightful designs. And for those that chose not to participate. Well that is a shame that you missed out on the enriching opportunity to join us. Hopefully next week we will see you here again. For now, please help me congratulate these TOP 3!!!

1st PLACE ~
Limor's Design:

Fandom: Sally Face

@Limor....I thoroughly enjoyed the variety of designs you gave for this fandom of Sally. It gave us a little insight on to what was about to a degree, and your reference picture was pretty spot on with your avi design. I appreciate the hard work that you do, and especially love the assistance you give to those that seek your help. Thank you for being a team player, and for your participation this week. The only thing that threw me off was the orb in your avi design. Wouldn't have been better with a knife of some kind instead?Wither way, please send me a COD for 25K. Keep an eye on your inventory, as I will be sending you an avi item and tokens for this fest. Enjoy!!

2nd PLACE ~
Akira's Design:

Fandom: Furry

@Akira.... I truly appreciate that you gave us some insight into the Furry community. Not just that, but you took the time to clear some misconceptions about the group as I know that are some quite colorful ones out there. Either way, you did an amazing job. May you continue enjoying the Furry community and fandom. Please let me know if you would rather have a pet from the group tab in my stables, gold, or avi item.

3rd PLACE ~
Opipearl's Design:

Fandom: Critical role

@Opipearl...You did an amazing job this week with your design. I can see some traces of your reference picture throughout your design, and that is a great touch. The traits you picked come together in a fashion befitting a battle clad Morrkko ready for a fight/war. Not a single one of them stands out of place, especially with the matte colored blue, and dark grey almost black colors. I love how your orb pops as if glowing. The only real change I would have done is muted the blue just a tad more, and bring it around to a bluish gray color. If you get what I am saying. Your reference picture show cases a darker mid tone blue like you are using, just a tad darker. Other than that, the only thing that held you back this week was your critique. You gave an excellent start to it don't get me wrong with what they could improve on. Even named a few specifics, however you didn't really give direction on what worked well. What you specifically liked.Try next time to work on that a little and you well do very well!

~NOIR~ Challenge

(READ EVERYTHING!!)

DEADLINE: Friday Jan. 3rd, 2020 @ 5pmCST
-Keep an eye out for a POST about voting coming to you later this week!!

Excused/Opted Out Of Challenge: Koterfaye, Picklethedarklord

With this challenge, you will be tasked with taking this oldie but goodie and giving it a new look. Using only the colors of white, black, and various shades of straight grey only(no tinted colored greys), forge a design that would be fitting for a Noir era...If you do not know what Noir means, or what I am referring to...Think of old black and white films and there you have it. It is classic as it is timeless..Be sure to follow all requirements and or rules for this least it show in your work. Mind you you only have until Friday to complete this challenge. I am cutting it short, because I want you the members of the DCU to vote. Later in the week, I will post an announcement of how you will cast your vote. So please keep an eye out and do not ignore it by any means...Until then, I wish you the best of luck!!

~REQUIREMENTS~

1.) You can make as many designs as you want. Just be careful, as all designs and your critique must fit into one design post only that you can edit as many times as needed.
2.) Your designs cannot be the same size, nor bigger than the example shown. They in fact must be smaller than the example shown.
* 3.) (Only the very 1st poster of a challenge is excused from this requirement.) Be sure to include within your design post your critique for the designer that posted before you whom besides myself you must also PING when posting. Your critique MUST be of their 1st DESIGN ONLY, as well as a bare minimum of 3 to 4 sentences in length! Explain what they can improve on, as well as what you liked about their design specifically. You MUST provide a reference picture to what you are referring to, so that the designer you are critiquing better understands what you are trying to convey about their design. Perhaps a side by side comparison of their design and what you believed their design should look like with your tips of improvement. With that in mind, DO NOT by any means leave a fellow designer hanging and waiting on you as that is just rude, and inconsiderate.
*4.) (ALL MUST COMPLY WITH THIS ONE)You must recreate your original design, but remember to incorporate some of the suggestions made to you by your design critiquer. That is why it is important to stay on top of any PINGs and or critiques made to you!! If you don't receive a ping, then by all means check regularly to see if someone has critiqued your design and get your altered piece done a sap. Take that new design, and place it NEXT TO your original design so that we may see the changes you made. DO NOT put your critiqued piece after any paragraphs or or comments. It must be right next to your original piece. Remember, without this your design post is viewed as incomplete.
5.) You must only use restricted traits!!!

~RULES/GUIDELINES~

1.) All core group rules are in affect/effect.
2.) Failure to follow any requirements and or rules will result it in being clearly seen in your work that you are unable to follow directions. Remember to ask for help if you need assistance and or clarification. Otherwise, at the end of the challenge you will be assigned a negative mark accordingly.

~EXAMPLE~

(Yes we have done this in the past, but I believe it fitting to rekindle a memory as we ring in the new year!)

I hope this is okay, but I have to opt out of this challenge this week like last week. I'm in a completely different state and going in between two everyday. I'm always overwhelmingly busy trying to visit all my family and today my aunt is taking me with her to shop and make foods for her huge new years party tomorrow. I just need some time with my family, I haven't seen them face to face like this for such a long time. Sorry.

If I can't opt out, Ill try my hardest to find some time in between activities to do a design or two.
